D&D 5E (2014) Dark sun Times of change

"We must stop! We won't be able to see where we are going, and the Krodlu are too tired to walk straight!" The half-giant bellows to be heard over the wind, and reaches over more than one party member to grab for a survival pack from the back of the cart.

Atroclos sits, carefully avoiding squashing anyone else as much as possible. He keeps his weapon laying against his leg, but not in his hands. He watches the Kreen communicate, entranced by their combination of sound and movement. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using EN World mobile app

Atroclos the Twice-Orphaned pauses beside the cart, leaning on his spiked club and waiting for Eevuu to return from scouting. His stomach delivers a basso rumble that suggests he might prefer to eat instead of fight, but what shall be, shall be.

Atroclos growls in frustration, hefts his tooth-spiked club, and attacks the same foe that the human barbarian attacked. Initiative: 1D20+2 = [10]+2 = 12 Morningstar: 1D20+6 = [15]+6 = 21 Damage vs same target as Kimet: 1D8+6 = [4]+6 = 10 Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using EN World mobile app

    D&D 5E (2014) Witcher: Mother of Monsters

The dwarf lifts his head and looks at the elf for a moment, then runs his gnarled finger over a subtle carving in the bark of the tree where he mourns. "When the Darkness came to Mahakam and swept over my people, its minions would carve this symbol over the sigils of our clans."

Barakor watches the others, feeling desperately out of his depths and as useless as a fifth wheel on an orecart. Embarrassed, he looks away from them and tries to keep his eyes open for danger. He leans against a tree and his breath catches in his throat as he spots a subtle carving in its bark...

D&D 5E (2014) Dark sun Times of change

Atroclos learned from his youth the wisdom that, "It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." So he is silent during the negotiations, although he notices the hostile gaze from Kimet. No matter. Atroclos the Twice-Orphaned has dealt with gladiators before...

Hunger. Hunger had rocked him to sleep, and hunger gnawed his guts into wakefulness. He lay still for a while, allowing the day's heat to soak into his aching bones. Lay still, in fact, until a sharp kick to the ribs shot more pain through his form. "Get out of here, useless wretch!" cawed a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Darksun times of change[Oc]closed]

Simply put: if you want to target something in dim light, I believe you have to make a WIS (Perception) check. If you fail that check, you can't see it. Otherwise, darkvision is way too powerful. Sent via EN World mobile app

    D&D 5E (2014) Darksun times of change[Oc]closed]

I *might* lower the DC of the check in melee, but the definition of dim light conditions in the PHB is pretty specific, so I'm definitely not waiving it for ranged attacks. Sent via EN World mobile app

    D&D 5E (2014) Darksun times of change[Oc]closed]

In dim light conditions, I understand the rules to require a WIS(Per) check to see specific things. If you fail the check to see the target, then you can't see the target and thus you have Disadvantage on the attack. That's how I read it, anyway. Sent via EN World mobile app

    D&D 5E (2014) Darksun times of change[Oc]closed]

Well, more precisely... Require WIS (Per) with Disadvantage to see targets in dim light, and Disadvantage on the attack if they fail the check. Sent via EN World mobile app

    D&D 5E (2014) Darksun times of change[Oc]closed]

I don't understand why people feel that way about DV, though. PHB 183 is pretty clear about the rarity of dim light that can be turned into bright light conditions by DV. Usually the best you're going to get out of DV is dark-to-dim which is still Disadvantage. Do most people not rule...

    Darksun: Times of Change RG
