The Day Has Come! It's An OGL! And A Store To Buy & Sell D&D 5E Products!

I'm curious, I've converted a bunch of stuff to 5e from old Dragon Magazines. Monsters, magic items, and spells, mostly. All pretty setting agnostic. I've posted it on my blog and shared it around here and other message boards. Am I cool just making a collection and publishing?

Unearthed Arcana New Year Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Those Old 2E Kits

Finally dug through all of this thread and have waited to post my thoughts. I do think the scout and cavalier feel like battlemaster subclasses. Sub-subclasses if you will. I'm thinking for my game I'll add their Superiority Dice maneuvers into the battlemaster list and give more options. Same...

Variant for charged magic items "magic focusing"

On Eska, the gray elves guard the art of wizardry closely. Very few non gray elves are ever taught. For the other races, magic comes naturally in the form of sorcerers or by making pacts as warlocks. I'm using the spell point variant rules for sorcerers in my game, and just rolling sorcery...

Variant for charged magic items "magic focusing"

Wanting to take a break from the races of Eska (even though I only have the warforged left), I've been reading through old issues of Dragon Magazine for things to convert to 5e. While I've found plenty of cool articles and short fiction to read, (not to mention Snarf Quest and Wormy), there has...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Companion System

Very interesting. I like how it simplifies things. I have a rogue in my group that wants to collect pets, and I think this would be a fun way of doing it.

    Eska, my new homebrew world

I apologize for the lack of updates. I work for UPS, and with the Christmas season, had little time and even less energy to devote to gaming. I wanted to do the goblins last time, but wasn't feeling the inspiration, so I worked up the obsidian giants. Decided to go back to the goblins and it...

DRAGON+ Issue 5 Brings News of a New D&D Boardgame, Sage Advice, and SCL Tabletop Stats

They are showing improvement, definitely a few things of use here. I like the web version as well.

    Eska, my new homebrew world

Throughout the Kinslayer Wars, the gray elf wizards performed all manner of experiments to increase the grey elves armies without any elves having to give up either their lives or their immortality. The early centuries of the Wars saw many aberrations summoned and monstrosities created and...

D&D 5E (2014) Favorite method of generating ability scores

I've always liked rolling dice, but I see the appeal of a standard array or point buy to keep the characters on a level field. I've seen "hero and sidekick" in a party all because of lucky/unlucky rolls. Last few groups I've had everyone roll up a set of stats, 4d6 drop lowest. Each player...

    Eska, my new homebrew world

I had originally had thoughts of using gnolls as a playable race on Eska, and using them much in the same way as I use the hobgoblins, and the goblins that are still to come. Somewhere along the line the thought of three "evil" races working for the elves seemed a bit off, so the gnolls kept...

    Eska, my new homebrew world

On Eska, the gray elves created the hobgoblins and the wood elves created the huan'apan (dog men), to fight in the Kinslayer Wars against the dark elves. In my lore, I've written that they did this to preserve elven life, since their numbers were so low to begin with. Also, before the schism...

    D&D 5E (2014) Minis and no grid?

I use a whiteboard with minis all the time. I draw in features with dry erase markers.

D&D 5E (2014) Using older adventures as is (sort of)

I agree with DEFCON1. I've run both 1e, BD&D and 3e adventures and mostly have replaced stat blocks for existing monsters. When they don't have 5e stats I've eyeballed it and done a full conversion after the fact.

    D&D 5E (2014) Critical Hits: Why not x2 damage?

At my table, crits do maximum damage, and you get Advantage on your next attack/action. This avoids the bad crit roll, and still lets you roll extra dice. When a monster rolls a crit, the players all seem to change tactics and target that one next, trying to negate the Advantage that creature...

D&D 5E (2014) Anybody know of a site where I can download free pawns?

I did a Google image search for "figure flats" and a bunch of great images popped up that I printed out and used. I've made others for monsters I couldn't find by just doing an image search and resizing the picture to the size I need.

    How To Do a Mob

I've used a tweaked version of the swarm for a fight against a tribe of bullywugs. For stats I kept it simple. For every 10 bullywugs, I used the stats of a hill giant. Hit points were pretty close, and instead of making 10 separate attacks, I made the two hill giant "great club" attacks, and...
