Busting Rocks - Stone Age Science Fiction/Fantasy RPG

As for writing religion down. Why? Some religion is esoteric, gnostic, secret so perhaps it would have been sacrilegious to write down. Or perhaps just too complex for the first symbols. Certainly writing developed out of bean-counting. But there are early myths written down by the 3rd...

Busting Rocks - Stone Age Science Fiction/Fantasy RPG

They could certainly count in the Neolithic. People have been making lunar calendars as far back as the Paleolithic. And even mapping. Likewise formalised burial ritual and (likely shamanistic) religious beliefs. Also a vast amount of practical knowledge about the world around them, lost to...

A Look At EN World's Stats & Demographics

D&D 5E (2014) How long is your average session?

About 10 weekends a year. 12 hours Saturday, 8 on Sunday. Sometimes longer, sometimes about 3-5 hours on Friday also. Food, etc. breaks of course. It usually takes till Tuesday for my brain and voice to recover from GMing but it's worth it.

When a man plays a woman

Female here. About a quarter of my characters over nearly 40 years have been male. They range from stereotypes to well-remembered personalities that feature in our group's stories decades later. I find it easier to portray intellectual or artistic men than really macho guys (the latter tend to...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you care about setting "canon"?

For me D&D canon is sort of interesting on occasion but as pointed out there are so many versions of canon that I pick and choose which bits of canon I want in any new campaign I run.

RuneQuest + Hârn = My New Obsession!

Too many people think that one needs to use Harnmaster to play in Harn. Certainly not true, as many fine GMs have shown in the Alternate Realities forum of lythia.com.

RuneQuest + Hârn = My New Obsession!

Harn is such a great setting. RQ will work fine with it.
