Sword Coast Legends Developer n-Space Closes Down After 21 Years

Siege of Dragonspear is an expansion to BG: EE, not BG2: EE (just in case any might run out to snag a copy lol). ;)

Sword Coast Legends Developer n-Space Closes Down After 21 Years

I avoided SCL precisely because it was, for all intents and purposes, not D&D. It had the names, the places....but not the underlying rules (it was more Dragon Age than D&D....not surprising considering Dan Tudge was the lead on it).

Sword Coast Legends Developer n-Space Closes Down After 21 Years

I suspect that's the case. Though I'm a little leary about the "goodwill" element. I find it decidedly not too good to release something that is, for all intents and purposes, dead before you even receive it...unless there is a giant sticker or label or online warning that indicates this is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Will 5e D&D re-claim its campaign settings.

DM's Guild - Mostly fanfic. Mostly. There could be some real gems in there, of that I have no doubt, but it's pretty tough to find as it currently is. There will be/is quality stuff up there, but at present it's a herculean task to find it. As for the other, indeed, however that is indeed...

Sword Coast Legends Developer n-Space Closes Down After 21 Years

Digital Extremes would be foolish to even bother spending any time or money on SCL at this point. It was a dead game after only a month...releasing the console version will not suddenly raise nSpace from the dead and will only cost DE money. I hope those who lost their jobs find new work...

    D&D 5E (2014) Will 5e D&D re-claim its campaign settings.

Therein lies the disconnect for me. Not that I don't see the value you derive from it, that much is plain and good. :) For me, the cost of the books don't justify the bits and pieces. I won't spend $50+ for a tiny sliver of useful content. The bits and pieces I find useful are the character...

    D&D 5E (2014) Will 5e D&D re-claim its campaign settings.

It counts, but minimally at this point. WotC I suspect is still riding this notion that licensing the brand instead of creating content will be the way of the future for D&D. They haven't themselves produced a single piece of salable content outside the Core Books (everything else has been...

    D&D 5E (2014) Will 5e D&D re-claim its campaign settings.

I wouldn't expect anything more from WotC than a passing nod or name-drop at some of them (as they have done). If/when some are actually used, it will be in the form of their storyline concept. Much like Ravenloft. I suspect they'll only directly use a setting if there exists a more general...

D&D Psionics Survey; Plus "First Major Mechanical Expansion" Coming?

I house-ruled this one and just re-implemented 2e's Weapon and Nonweapon profs with some tweaks to fit 5e (and added a bunch of nonweapon profs). Int bonus provides bonus weapon/nonweapon profs or languages known at character creation (can be used all for profs, languages, or split up). This...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance 5E

I'd welcome a Dragonlance (DL) book (similar to Sword Coast Adventurers Guide...but preferably a little more comprehensive in terms of character options). I never cared for playing in DL (found it waaaaay too restricting, even with a good DM), but I did (and still do) find it quite a good...

Sage Advice 3/21/16 Exploding druids and antimagic field vs zombies and cure wounds

Always amused that Druids in D&D were averse to wearing metal armor and using metal shields....but have no problem at all with metal weapons.

What Will Become of the FLGS?

I'd prefer an FLGS. I always enjoyed the "aura" of being surrounded by gaming material. Sadly, when I can get a significantly better price buying a product online AND with free shipping in a day or two....yeah, I'm gonna buy it online.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

I'm not sure. Always hard to tell what something's legacy will be while it's still "active". Currently, 5e strikes me as an edition WotC just....kinda did, and now treats it with a purposeful casual disdain. It almost feels like they created it solely to tell their awful, awful storylines (I...

D&D 5E (2014) what is it about 2nd ed that we miss?

I do miss 2e, warts and all. While I certainly appreciate the d20 mechanic, I do find I miss all the disparate resolution mechanics possessed by 2e from time to time. Granted looking back it appears sloppy, unwieldy, warty and ugly...but it worked well enough and I did (and do) enjoy the...

    Pathfinder News From GAMA

A resounding "meh" from me, at least as far as these two items are concerned (a reprint and a reprint with some updates). Can't all be new and shiny...but hopefully there's more than just this.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

I'll quote Ralphie from A Christmas Story after receiving his Little Orphan Annie decoder pin..... "A crummy commercial? Son of a...." Disappointed. Though that's been my thought for 5e since the core books.

DM's Guild: What Do The Customers Think?

I've only bought one thing from it (Adventurers of Kara-Tur), but I like the concept. Still, I'm old school and prefer book-in-hand, so this will be mostly ignored by me. I'd rather see more sourcebooks (be they splat or setting), but if they've determined that's not a business model they want...

    D&D 5E (2014) Where are the options?

I've had this thought roll around in my brain cage for a while. It's been stated 5e was not going to be a splat-heavy edition of D&D (by WotC employees and others, some quoted in this very thread), and it sure hasn't been. There have been some scattered and random options as the OP mentioned...

CURSE OF STRAHD: Here's The Official Announcement & Cover Image!

Well...as a personal nitpick can't say I'm all that pleased to see how much the Curse of Strahd banner looks like a Magic the Gathering expansion title. They might as well have called it Curse of Innistrahd.

    [Dragon article] Variant holy avengers?

Can't help with the Dragon articles, but there are variant holy avenger swords in the 2nd Edition Complete Paladin's Handbook.
