    D&D 5E (2014) Basic/Standard/Advanced?

Roleplaying isn't dogma, its philosophy. They want to make sure everyone can play the version of the game they want to. Its too splintered of a market place-- "the best game" doesn't exist, there might be the "best game for you" but that's hardly going to make everyone happy.

    D&D 5E (2014) Basic/Standard/Advanced?

Can't wait till people realize they can make their own modules.

    D&D 5E (2014) Basic/Standard/Advanced?

Advanced is just going to be more and more crunchy, while standard will be good for people who just want to jump into roleplaying. I've got a group that's eager to play, but doesn't have a lot of time to learn the rules-- really looking forward to standard.

    D&D 5E (2014) Basic/Standard/Advanced?

Depends what you're design goals are. I have a feeling most of things people complain about were never design goals to begin with. There are also limits to internal play-testing, we rarely live in a perfect world. You also have you keep in mind what "you" see as a problem for DND is not what...

    D&D 5E (2014) Basic/Standard/Advanced?

Few things The idea is to be able to add as much complexity as you want. So its not that there will be 2 versions, there will be countless, it just depends on what modules you're playing. But there will be the same base that all versions build off of, and that will be "Standard". Another...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 2014 official?

You're making a ton of assumptions, but who knows, maybe your dad is CEO of Hasbro? I wouldn't even begin to try and guess at Hasbo's and WOTC's business relationship without more information, for all we know they could be hugely supportive of this project. In the mean time, Hasbro is content to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 2014 official?

More time the better imo. Make a solid game that will last years. Why rush a game that's suppose to last for over a decade just to get it out a year early? You'll have 10+ years playing an inferior game.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bring Back Bonus Attacks

I think the comments about no multiple attacks addresses a real issue, if maybe a little drastic. Power increase is an important part of the game-- and few things feel as rewarding as an extra attack. I'd be fine with it at level 15... a nice reward for getting that far. Also, they need to make...

    D&D 5E (2014) Crits - Damage plus effect?

I really like the idea of stat damage on crits. Hits home, makes a difference and you can always heal it up after the adventure.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is DnD next chasing a pipedream?

You're simplifying things a little too much. 4th was not more "accessible" to your average person, but what they did do was develop the game into combat system that allowed for a more rewarding tactical experience. This appealed to the younger video game crowd because they were used to that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is DnD next chasing a pipedream?

What line of thinking brought you to that conclusion? They're trying to be inclusive of a more mainstream crowd. The problem with 4th is that its excessive crunch and "gamey"-ness alienated people who were more open to roleplaying than tactical combat (Warning: NOT MAKING A VALUE JUDGEMENT on...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is DnD next chasing a pipedream?

DnD next is going to be a huge hit on launch, with or without the support of this forum. Its a big name, and its a forward-thinking easy-to-play house hold brand that has a history of big launches. The details of the game, and what it means for the meta-game of DND is of little importance-- as...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacks per round.

"I think more attacks is definitely more "fun", and it helps add a level of momentum to a campaign. I would be happy with one every 4-5 levels, for a total of +4/+5 attacks. If the rogue doesn't have more attacks his damage should still be able to be competitive. I'm fine with less attacks...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacks per round.

You just have to make sure mob HP scales with PC damage output or you'll get weird imbalances-- no body wants to one shot a dragon :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacks per round.

yeah, more attacks helps balance out the swinging feeling of a d20. The sooner the better imo. (Well, level 4, imo)

D&D 5E (2014) The Return of the HealBot

I'm not arguing with any of your points, but what I'm worried about is the farther you go down this path, the more you build the 'healer' into a necessary part of the system. I realize there are people out there who like to heal-- but i don't think its enough to support every gaming group out...

D&D 5E (2014) The Return of the HealBot

but then you have a problem where WOTC wants you to have an "adventuring day" and not resetting after every encounter.

D&D 5E (2014) The Return of the HealBot

That's a great idea actually-- but I think you can make it more interesting with more options. A big heal that takes a whole turn, or little heals as a swift actions or a damage spell that heals your friends as well. Force the cleric make decisions. Its good because at that point the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric and Rogue Fixes

I think the trick to fixing the rogue is giving him lots of good reasons to not use his SA dice for damage. Give him great abilities and he'll be too useful not to take along. Maybe up the damage, if its every-other-turn, but give him a lot of abilities that grant advantage next turn AND do...

D&D 5E (2014) The Return of the HealBot

The game is set up for multiple encounters per reset. You don't need a TPK situation to make players feel like their resources are being tested. Straight healing is one of the least interesting ways of handling player damage. Debuffs, buffs, strategic positioning, bottle necks, scenery, just...
