Ryan Dancey -- Hasbro Cannot Deauthorize OGL

Please review Here: Hello, I am lawyer with a PSA: almost everyone is wrong about the OGL and SRD. Clearing up confusion. Seems a lawyer says the legal definition of "perpetual" dos not mean the same as the dictionary. Seems he might be right, but I'm not enough of a legal expert to be sure.

Ryan Dancey -- Hasbro Cannot Deauthorize OGL

I think this is going to be a lot less about the publishers, and more about the VTT space. Let me explain: Everything I'm seeing out of Wotc sounds a lot like them getting on what is lovingly called the "Live Services" bandwagon. I say lovingly due to game publishers seeming to love making...

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

I’m not much for rpg piracy, as I like to see my favored creators eat, but this is definitely what causes people to bulk archive stuff.

Dragonlance Introducing Dragonlance's Iconic - And Upgraded! - Death Knight, Lord Soth!

Just to be clear, Soth’s undead army was a curse, not a boon. They were there to remind him of how far he had fallen, and how many he took with him on his way down. Heck, the banshees that prowled his courtroom were there to sing about everything he ever did to get them all there. On the...

Dragonlance Lunar Sorcery: A Preview from Shadow of the Dragon Queen

You’re thinking 5th age. They traded dice for cards in the rpg, and everything got weird.

WotC Ray Winninger Steps Back From WotC

What I mean is, there is already books and rules on the market, the moment that it becomes costly to upgrade to a new edition, and has enforced subscriptions that the gm has to maintain, let alone each player… it will start effecting their bottom line.

WotC Ray Winninger Steps Back From WotC

Well, to be honest, the d20 can never be put back in the bag. If wotc tries to really screw over d&d with subscription level bs, well… they simply can’t undo what they did with 3rd edition. I mean, not a single player will have much, if any, issues with changing rules.

Terry Pratchett would have been PROUD, sir.

TSR Wizards of the Coast Requests Injunction Against NuTSR

Burn it. Burn it with acid, fire, and then freeze the remains and launch it into the sun. Then archive the book as a POI about how this stuff is bad.

TSR Wizards of the Coast Requests Injunction Against NuTSR

Nononononononooooooo. That cannot be real. That’s impossible for ANYONE to not see is going to get them crushed. Racism being bad aside, that’s a level of self destructive behavior that makes me wonder if they cut themselves for fun…

Dragonlance Dragonlance Brings New Options to D&D

I will concede anything at this point. Can we move on to something not sounding like the last half decade of political meat grinding that has been slowly killing my will to live? I know I joined in, and it was my own failing. I'm trying to stop.

Dragonlance Dragonlance Brings New Options to D&D

Can we start a new thread about the semantics of politics in modern media, and maybe get back to dragonlance? I mean, it was fun and all, but nobody agrees and it's frankly starting to smell like the SOS. I personally think there was something akin to the "Mercer Effect" with dragonlance in...

Dragonlance Dragonlance Brings New Options to D&D

Nope. I refuse to thought police. Dunno about you, but knowledge and history are something I will never agree with destroying. We have to document evil, in all it's forms, so that we can RECOGNISE it. Good people (of whatever stripe) often have trouble detecting evil when it wanders in of...

Dragonlance Dragonlance Brings New Options to D&D

I feel like this a lot more anger than a refocusing of the dragonlance ip should be generating. myself, I think this looks less like a reboot, and more like shifting the players story away from the original books. I feel like those things might still exist, but they act as a backdrop?

Dragonlance Dragonlance Brings New Options to D&D

Just to be clear, dragonlance has MANY aspects that do not survive the sniff test of modern social viewpoints. It's also FOURTY years old. Views evolved, quite rapidly, really, and it shows in just about all American media. "Three's Company" seemed downright wholesome for the time, now...

Dragonlance Dragonlance Brings New Options to D&D

<raised eyebrow> Better is a definition of moving closer to a goal. It is the definition of Objective. But all Objective things are also subjective. Subjective becomes Objective to you when you agree to it. When enough people agree, it becomes "better." It's all sophistry, mind you.
