WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Er... You do know there are housing crises right now? Right? Based on rent abuse? This is kinda going against your point.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

... Did you just say... "Of course it"? My god you adapt quickly. This is not NORMAL. This is cyberpunk 2020 AI crap we dreamed up in the 80s and somebody mad scienced together. Get a GRIP MAN! YOU SHOULD BE PANICING! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! <cough> Sorry. Was having a moment. Carry on.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

No clue. Seemed off to me to, with the D&D book of sex thing not getting shutdown. <shrugs> Not a lawyer though. The rest of the opinion on what Wizards said? I'm on board, really. Also think it's too late for the OGL 1.0a. Wizards is a proven liar in my book now, and I trust nothing they...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

This is pretty much my total view on this in video format. Thanks DnD shorts.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

This. This is what I've been saying. Except... Monetization is not just a subscription. Its microtransactions. Walled gardens. Making licensing contracts that prevent them from making content for 3rd party VTT. You're right. The are video game industry managers. And should be watched...

They just tried. Hence why everyone is turning into Robin Hood vs the Sherriff.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Well, are Red book, AD&D, AD&D2, and D&D 3rd. and 4th all compatible?

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

And in doing so told everyone who read it that the things they were feeling were important were in fact, not. You know, the same way some people walk up to gamers and tell them to grow up? Can you follow how that might trigger a tad of hostility?

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Wait... Are people still believing that WotC were just testing the water with this, and not trying to blitzkrieg the contract through as fast as possible? They handed the contract over and said "sign by the 13th". Not, "we're getting your input on this, what do you think?" This was not cool...

Oh, let's run with it. Might be fun. Or horrific. Horrific fun!

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

I'm coming to the conclusion that some people want the problem to go away, have the game they like not get possibly fractured, and are willing to argue against the way WotC is being perceived based on it rocking the boat they want to keep riding in. And no, not shills, or sellouts. They just...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Seriously, stop that. Silence is not consent, nor agreement. It's waiting to see what's going on before jumping headlong into the fire. They has people They're responsible for, and they can take their doggon time.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

How? It was so egregiously evil and stupid as to be absurd. They breached contract in a way as to be impossible to functionally defend, and THEN interfered with a contract T&M had with a publisher. If that had went to a court... Ouch.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

I understand your thoughts on this, but it comes down to this: I have a company. It has 15 employees. We making gaming stuff. My company depends on a license to sell from X company. They can revoke this at any time, as long as they have a reason. You, nor any third party, have to agree...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Okay, at this point we're just arguing if they are evil, stupid or both. None of the above is a reason to trust them at this point.

Paizo Announces New Irrevocable Open RPG License To Replace the OGL

Okay, did, or did WotC not, send out the contract and request signatures by the 13th? If so, then they acted in bad faith. If this information is incorrect, then it might have been negotiable.

<raised eyebrow> That... Was stepping a toe over the edge of appropriateness. Perhaps take a moment to consider how that sounded?
