    That’s fair.

D&D General Fighting Law and Order

If anyone crossed the line from “explaining how DW works” to “extolling the virtues” of it, I missed that step. I for one appreciated the explanations, even if they’re in the “wrong” forum.

D&D General Fighting Law and Order

Can anyone recommend a good, engaging DW demo or actual-play video that shows how these hard & soft moves (and fronts) work in practice? I started watching a couple that we’re just boring beyond endurance.

D&D 5E (2024) Rests should be dropped. Stop conflating survival mechanics with resource recovery.

Nope, that's not what he said. I agree. As I said: A solution that works for you doesn't make it a solution that works for me. I don't think the answer is as obviously no as you think it is. Healing potions in D&D are marginally silly (IMO), and expanding on those existing game components...

D&D 5E (2024) Rests should be dropped. Stop conflating survival mechanics with resource recovery.

You're misunderstanding the argument, I think. This is the opposite of a slippery slope. We DO have unrealistic things in the game. The DOES NOT lead to having no realism at all. No slope, slippery or otherwise. It's OKAY to have unrealistic things in the game. We can STILL have the realistic...

D&D 5E (2024) Why is wotc still aiming for PCs with 10 *real word* feet of range? W/o vision range penalty/limit rules for the GM?

That's was for both spells and ranged weapons in 1e. There were also negative modifiers on attack rolls at medium and long range.

If I were in your shoes, DMing another person’s campaign with players whose style and expectations don’t mesh with mine, I’d just recuse myself from future sessions. “Sorry, Jane. I’m not sure what to do with players like that, and I don’t want to TPK your group.”

D&D 5E (2024) Why is wotc still aiming for PCs with 10 *real word* feet of range? W/o vision range penalty/limit rules for the GM?

I fully support reducing those long ranges, either officially in the next update or unofficially by any DM who wants to make the change. Great idea! Do it. I inferred from the initial post that the idea was to pile on disadvantages and negative modifiers to make those long range attacks so...

D&D 5E (2024) Why is wotc still aiming for PCs with 10 *real word* feet of range? W/o vision range penalty/limit rules for the GM?

Are you asking why there aren't rules that allow the DM to tell players that their PCs can't use their long bows effectively at full range in wide open terrain?

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Heck, I ignore calls from people I do know if they don’t leave a message.

    D&D 5E (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

@Bedrockgames I’m glad you’re still with us. Online harassment and bullying is real, and it has real effects on real people.

    D&D 5E (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

There's a great deal of value, I think, in examining and reconsidering the way things have been presented in fantasy in the past to make deliberate, thoughtful decisions about what to retain, what to change, and what to add, rather than just re-making the same art and literature (and gaming...
