D&D General Why a PETITION: Stop Hasbro's hurtful content is a Bad Idea

The petition in question did not suggest removal of the Orcs PDF and did not suggest replacing it with a re-written version.

D&D General Why a PETITION: Stop Hasbro's hurtful content is a Bad Idea

I believe the publisher of MK in the United States donates all profits and royalties.

D&D General Why a PETITION: Stop Hasbro's hurtful content is a Bad Idea

The petition in question does not ask WotC to rewrite or ban anything.

What's the WORST Star Wars movie?

Tough decision. I chose Return of the Jedi as the worst, because I was in my prime Star Wars phase and it was an enormous disappointment. Death Star 2. Superficial redemption arc for Vader. Ugh. I followed with Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Crappy backstories that didn’t need...

D&D 5E (2014) Ten House Rules for More Dynamic 5E Combat

I would prefer to use hexes. I can't figure out why that hasn't been widely adopted. (My own players didn't like it much, for reasons none would say.)

Where do we stand on Harry Potter?

Agreed. I just mean that I'd hope for the same response whether it's an accident due to subconsious bias or an accident due to coincidence. EDIT: And it ALSO matters what you do before the accident to avoid the accident.

Where do we stand on Harry Potter?

I don’t think it matters if anti-Semitic caricatures are introduced subconsciously (due to the miasma of cultural influences we all swim in) or coincidentally. Either way, we owe more to one another than just passively not intending to do harm. Better that we actively intend to do no harm.

    D&D 5E (2014) About Morally Correct Outcomes in D&D Adventures [+]

Judging by all the bricks and detritus just floating in the trash compactor, I’d say the Death Star debris has fairly low mass.

Where do we stand on Harry Potter?

Did you report it? Edit: I’m not really asking if you reported it. That’s private info. What I mean is that if the political post was not reported, then to assume it’s acceptable and a sign of a double-standard is probably premature.

    D&D 5E (2014) About Morally Correct Outcomes in D&D Adventures [+]

What I should have said is: I find little value (except entertainment) by making moral judgments of fictional actions based on consequences that are realistic but that do not conform to the genre.

    D&D 5E (2014) About Morally Correct Outcomes in D&D Adventures [+]

Realistic consequences based a real-world science are in short supply in the Star Wars films.

How to deal with a "true roleplayer".

That was the requirement for an XP bonus in AD&D, but it wasn't the presequisite for chosing the class. But yes, AD&D had minium ability scores for each class.

    D&D 5E (2014) About Morally Correct Outcomes in D&D Adventures [+]

For me, it would be more useful for published adventures to suggest several potential end-states and describe how individuals and factions in the fictional world would perceive the means and the end results of the adventurers' efforts. It would not be useful for me at all for the author to...

How to deal with a "true roleplayer".

Character creation is always meta-game activity (in D&D, anyway). Players should always have a character that they want to play. Sometimes, what players want to play is influenced by what other PCs are at the table. If a DM prohibits coordination, some players might suffer.

It is time to forgive WOTC and get back onboard.

I'll try once more. There is no harm. My future potential purchases are not assets of WotC that I take away from them. If I buy from them, WotC benefits. If I don't buy from them, for whatever reason, they do not benefit. But they are not harmed. The end-state for WotC when I don't make a...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

This could be very good for our demographic. I used to read a lot of science fiction. I have a wall of "Best Sci-Fi of the Year" collections from the mid-60s through the late 80s. A few years ago, I started reading current anthologies, and I was delighted by what I found. Much wider...

D&D 5E (2014) Is it right for WoTC to moralize us in an adventure module?

I tend to be hyper-critical of published adventures. I’m even more critical of my own work, so I’m stuck.
