    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

There have been a few hints that Eberron is coming up. But if you made me guess, I'd guess Fall for that or next Spring. AD

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

I believe the term you are looking for is not 'friend' but 'enabler'. Yeah. Mike has said he likes to drop oblique hints. Krakens have come up a few times. Maybe there's something to it. AD

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

Yeah. Going to be sort of a 'design seminar' not sneak peaks. Which should have been obvious in retrospect. AD

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

Probably worth noting that the description of "livestreaming some game design work every week" could mean anything from showing peeks at actual design work for potential future products to just showing how the process works by brainstorming ideas he pulls off the twitch feed. AD

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

Kind of on this topic, Mearls has a new twitch show which airs today, called 'HAPPY FUN HOUR! with Mike Mearls', where he'll "be livestreaming some game design work every week" Doubt he'll outright give spoilers and probably nothing for something in the near future. But there's always the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

Heh. We should take wagers on how much Stewart lets slip. Or maybe just set up a poll. :) AD

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

My guess will be that they'll drop a few tidbits but not the full announcement. Enough hints to figure it out but not a clear declaration. But we'll see. AD

D&D 5E (2014) What is the next adventure book and when is it coming?

Worth keeping in mind that the big storyline announcement last year didn't happen till June or so. I'm guessing the Feb 6 announcement won't be for the big adventure storyline. This is further supported by a recent tweet by Mearls: https://twitter.com/mikemearls/status/957516311109644289...

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

Either way, it's kind of a bummer. Mixing Orcus with Illithids just seems like a lovely idea. I had kind of hoped they'd maybe elaborate on the storyline in some other venue. But so far, they don't seem to have any inclination to do so. I get it. They have moved on to other stories and don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Announcement coming February 6th

Perkins mentioned in an AMA that "We were counting on a novel to deal with the Orcus subplot. The novel fell through for reasons beyond our control. Sh*t happens! :)" Here's the link to the AMA...

D&D Reader App Coming This Fall? [UPDATED]

The current alpha has three font options (small, medium, and large) and controls for line spacing, text alignment, and display style. I'm afraid I don't have the skills to eye the fonts and tell you the style and the point size. It's possible they are planning to add more fine scale control...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond and pencil-and-paper games

I use a phone, and it works well. The mobile app isn't out yet (and to start with it'll be an e-reader). But the mobile website is very user friendly. As far as I can see, the app will basically offer offline functionality and probably other perks. But, as a rules reference, the mobile website...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond and pencil-and-paper games

Two current uses: 1) rapidly create characters for pen and paper games. I've done this a few times now. That functionality will improve with time as they do their 'revamp'. But it's already useful. 2) Reference at the table. I pretty regularly use it to look up spells, rules, monsters, etc...

D&D 5E (2014) Could the Revised/Variant Ranger be released by the end of the year?

Yeah, it's funny. I listened to that while I was working on something else and didn't think a lot about it. But it was surprisingly informative when I look back and also see these messageboard discussions. Other fun tidbits were his mention of the mystic and how much more work it needed. He...

D&D 5E (2014) Could the Revised/Variant Ranger be released by the end of the year?

This is a bit of an aside, but I remembered another thing Crawford said in that interview that might be of interest. He said that one clue that a given UA article is on a topic that they are seriously considering for a product (in other words, not just a random experiment like Mike's alternative...

D&D 5E (2014) Could the Revised/Variant Ranger be released by the end of the year?

Don't have a transcript. Basic summary of points: -- Having an entirely new version of the ranger causes confusion. This has led to the move toward swapping out features. -- They might try this feature swap for other classes as well (I think the elementalist monk was mentioned) -- The thing...
