    Druid's Venom Immunity

Sometimes Wikipedia says it most succinctly. in any case, my own ruling would be that the immunity applies to all naturally occurring toxins. Now, if you used those toxins to brew your own poison, that might be another matter. That is, if a Druid were poisoned, particularly by another Druid...

    Druid's Venom Immunity

"In the context of biology, poisons are substances that can cause disturbances to organisms,[1] usually by chemical reaction or other activity on the molecular scale, when a sufficient quantity is absorbed by an organism. In medicine (particularly veterinary) and in zoology, a poison is often...

    Druid's Venom Immunity

Since we're nitpicking here, the is a distinct difference between a poison, and a venom. Venoms are produced naturally by animals. Other toxins such as poisons are produced by plants or other means. (A poison can be made from a venom) Immunity to venom does NOT equal immunity to toxins.

How much is too much (Race Bloat)

Great point. I think creating human cultures that mirror the mechanical benefits of demi-humans is a great solution to "all human" campaigns.

    Spell lists vs. story needs

Are we talking PCs here or NPCs? The Wicked Witch would be an NPC. In my mind, her story needs would be addressed first, perhaps creating new spells or magic items to allow her to fill her role. Then she would be statted out for combat, with her special abilities being part of the mix. As for...

Legends and Lore 11/22/2011 - A Different Way to Slice the Pie

I think the trick is to make that information available to those who want it, without forcing those who don't to wade through it in order to play at lower levels.

Legends and Lore 11/22/2011 - A Different Way to Slice the Pie

The thing is, it does. It always has. Playing a 10th level character is a hell of a lot more complex than playing a first level character. GMing a high level game is waaaaay more complex than GMing a low level game. He isn't talking about "making" higher level games more complex. They already...

Legends and Lore 11/22/2011 - A Different Way to Slice the Pie

Seems to me Monty's simply talking about how rules are introduced, rather than some sort of "variable complexity level design." For instance, if I'm going to be playing a magic user, do I really need to know what the 5th level magic spells are in order to create a character and start playing...

What would happen in your game?

The slender comely Rogue is accosted inside the bar by a big brutish fellow, and accuses her of theft. The Paladin steps in and orders the fellow to keep his hands to himself, and to explain what his issue is. After hearing both sides of the story (the Rogue is QUITE convincing), the Paladin...

    Damage Systems in RPGs?

Combat is an exception in my game, not the rule. I focus on fewer combats with fewer participants. So all in all, I would imagine my combats each take up less time than anyone else's, and leaves a lot more time for other roleplay options. My system also indicated huge amounts of damage under...

    Damage Systems in RPGs?

I've got my own system I use, and have been using for years. Basically, it is all "vitality" or "fatigue" points. As I have a distain for magical healing by clerics, they are restored at the generous rate of 1/2 your missing points per hour. So say your normal hit points are 53. You take a...

    Alternative Combat System

Hi, I wanted to share a combat system I designed and have been using for years. It is fairly simple to adapt to any d20 like system. I've found it offers players huge flexibility in armor and weapons types, as well as strategy. I've got armor and weapons charts, a damage chart, and sample...

Pathfinder 1E Virginia Pathfinder "E6" variant online via Maptools and Skype

I've been working diligently on creating player info for my campaign setting Shatterworld, and am preparing to launch a weekly online campaign after the first of the year, weekday evenings, Eastern Standard Time. I'd like to find some reasonably close people to Richmond (DC to Hampton Roads), as...

    Roles in Roleplaying Games

I have written it off yet. I've been doing a lot of reading, but I don't suppose I'll actually know until I play it. If I were to get one book in 4e to get the best vibe, which would you suggest? PHB, DMG?

Of all the things I've read that have made me suspect that 4e is not for me, this thread at the top.

Ideas needed for an adventurers' guild

It seems to me that the very essence of a guild is diametrically opposed to the spirit of being an adventurer. Of course, I'm mostly influence by folktales, in which "adventuring" is usually undertaken by someone who has had quite enough of the life imposed on them, and decides that rather than...

    Roles in Roleplaying Games

I don't understand the who "role" thing in the first place. This is some sort of 4e lingo I take it?

How long to write an adventure for publication?

I would imagine this was an entire week. Writing for publication is not an easy task. First comes the ideas, then the maps, text, statted monsters, all the i's dotted the t's crossed. I have a hard time writing an adventure Ii'm happy with in under 20 hours, and it is nowhere near ready for...

Can Campaigns based on books be successful?

Ditto! I loved Dragonlance. Of course, like all adventures I have purchased, I did a great deal of re-working, but DL gave you an amazing amount of flavorful stuff to use... or not. I'll take that any day over endless pages of "stats".

The "Good Society" in Fantasy Gaming

In Middle-earth, every one was susceptible to evil, even Galadriel, Gandalf, and of course Saruman. But evil races were evil. There was no grey about that. I'll reiterate... to me, the question isn't about what society is "good". It is a question of tangible evil. It is one of the reasons I...
