D&D General Why Exploration Is the Worst Pillar

How dare you quote a specific parameter given by the core rulebook? Don't you know that D&D 5e is free form DM decides?

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

First, a fighter gets it's second extra attack at lvl 11. Second, I specifically talked about a fighter with access to feats in the post he quoted, so I don't see where you are getting at? Third, I'm not talking about some obscure over specialized build, I just gave three very, very common...

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

What? You disagree that a lvl 11 Battle Master with either GWF, CBE or PAM would easily outdamage a lvl 11 rogue?

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

I don't care, really. And you are right about the primary goal of the game being everyone having fun. On the other hand, just because the DM has the power to adjucate any action as he sees fit, we can't pretend the rules are not there. The rules makes it completely obvious that a creature...

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

Good, because I find your overly simulationist views about stealth and hiding completely against what the 5e designers envisioned for the game.

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

And who decides what the "spirit of the game" is? You? 🙂

    D&D 5E (2014) Bag of Holding Question

Nope. The interior is a cylinder 2' in diameter and 4' in height.

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

Not your fault. To be honest, your OP was very interesting. It's the people doing those mental gymnastics to deny the obvious who are sucking up my patience. Too bad I can't just drop a thread once I start reading it... Here is the thing: It's pretty obvious that the intention behind the...

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

This thread is painfully reminding me why I used to hate 5e back when it came out.

D&D General Why Exploration Is the Worst Pillar

Angry GM's Tension Pool is indeed a great tool for tracking time and checking for complications. Each die represents a 10 minutes turn and the bowl is emptied when the sixth dice is added.

D&D General Why Exploration Is the Worst Pillar

That's why I enforce 10 minutes exploration turns and always check for wandering monsters as needed. B/X style. The game tends to work better If you actually handle it as a game rather than just storytelling.

D&D General Why do we Round Down???

3e came out 21 years ago. It's long standing. You are old.

D&D General Why do we Round Down???

Why rounding at all? Let's just start tracking fractions of hit points and we're good!

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

You can't. Skulker says you remain hidden if you miss a ranged attack. That's the only exception.

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue's Cunning Action to Hide: In Combat??

Damn right. Hide is one of the combat actions available in the PHB. People just like to make things unnecessarily complicated.

D&D General No More "Humans in Funny Hats": Racial Mechanics Should Determine Racial Cultures

It's funny because it started as a thread about racial bonuses in a game, but someone upthread has already posted something about "How age is important to understand a given society" Man, you guys are too big brained for me. I swear to God, it's virtually impossible to talk about games today...

    D&D 5E (2014) How Would You Implement Skill Deficiencies in D&D 5e?

You had to allocate points to each skill individually instead of just a flat proficiency bonus for trained skills. It should give you the granularity you seek.
