D&D 5E (2014) DM Advice needed Re Waterdeep

The 1e product, Waterdeep and the North (available at RPG Drive Thru) is still an excellent source of inspiration regarding Waterdeep. At the bare minimum, the list of Noble Families and seeing how much the city has changed over the years, is useful. Volo’s Guide to Waterdeep, (also available...

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

I know next to nothing about Zak, other than what I have read here, on EnWorld. So me objecting to epistemological errors, and people conflating opinion with fact is in no way a statement of support or condemnation of Zak. So calling people, whom raise objections with the broad brush of Zak...

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

There are so many epistemological errors in this thread I cannot begin to start. The fact that posters are stating as fact, that Mearls must have given sensitive information out, when the collective We, knows nothing, even remotely like that...is a travesty. The fact, posters on EnWorld are...

    How Expensive is Too Expensive?

I find it curious no one has brought up the Platinum Editions from Beadle and Grimm. $500 per set, for very limited new content, and custom props. While custom coins and props are cool, cheaper, (frankly much cheaper) alternatives can be found. Just not this🙂: D&D Idol Ring I received the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk Sub-Classes

Did I just read a whole page that consisted of two posters typing back and forth: “Factions are stupid.” “ Factions are not stupid.” “ Yes they are.“ “No they are not” This is why Greyhawk, can’t have nice things.🤢

D&D General DM or Player Poll

As many DMs are, self reportedly, taking a turn on the player side of the DM screen, what insights have people gleaned from taking a spin at being a player?

Is "A Wizard Did It" Acceptable Worldbuiling?

The Winchester House in California exists. There are many examples of massive compounds being created by the powerful in real life human history. It would be inconsistent to not have at least, one rambling mega dungeon, in a world with no shortage of immortal(ish) Wizards. Let alone complexes...

D&D 5E (2014) How weak is Athlete Feat?

I’ve seen a high strength Rogue character use the Athlete feat to decent effect. The character would do some Assassin’s Creed style antics. Dash, as a bonus action, in combination with the Jump/Climb benefits of the feat, can lead to parkour style fun. I wish it gave a boost to swimming...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tired of doing WotC's job

😀 Sorry, was abbreviating your handle. Intended to write Flame. Which is exactly my point, well said, Sir!

    D&D 5E (2014) Tired of doing WotC's job

Lycanthropy is a Curse, and curses are generally conceived of as magical, in a conceptual framework. Some, magic does work in the way you have detailed above, Flame. Other powers are magical, without the mechanical baggage. I, assert, that most tables rule, that when a character, such as a...

D&D General Best "out of the box" ready to run adventures/modules?

The individual parts of Dragon Heist are good. If one is the type of DM that can wing it then the maps, names and groups and slight variations gives one a ton to work with. If you are not that type of DM, then some editing is in order.

    Old timers?

Me...though under a different name. I was one of the judges for the EN World Adventure challenge so it must be since 2000. Also, Morrus, my sincere thanks for keeping the place going!

D&D 5E (2014) 4-Element monks are the only monk archetype that excels against flying enemies

If you keep telling fellow EN World members that they “are playing wrong” or “not playing D&D” then quite frankly you are posting incorrectly. You certainly, are not being inclusive. I scoffed as a child when Gary Gygax wrote in Dragon that there was only one way to play the game. You...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer Changes

This is an ancillary issue, so not trying to thread jack, (and constantly quote R.E...damnit man stop raising interesting points! 😄), I feel the opposite. The multiple, different “power timers” is actually the worst aspect of 5E, in my opinion. Now ‘Worst’ in 5e, means inconvenient...as the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer Changes

‘Niche’ is relative to the campaign. In a Three Musketeers style campaign, where slaying nobles will get you ‘High Justice’, (and not in the good Cheech and Chong way), non lethal options may be greatly appreciated, especially when fighting Evil Count Tyrone Rugon. Is this...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer Changes

See now, you are engaging in crazy talk, as the Sorcerer is the First D&D class I would give to the Nazis, in a Sophie’s Choice situation. 🤫 I oft wonder if finding the class distasteful is less about the obvious whiteboard planning deficiencies, and more about the age of the player. The...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer Changes

That is the point, it seems bizarre to you, which is just your singular view point. What specifically leads you to this viewpoint? Since snark levels and frustration seem to be on the rise; I thusly, want to be clear, that I am not asking this question antagonistically, but out of genuine...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer Changes

Honestly, this has not been my experience. Bards have few spells known at low level, so their access to Ritual Magic does not magnify the versatility gap in the way a Wizard’s Ritual Magic feature does. Warlocks....is your argument warlocks outperform Sorcerers? Alas, also not my experience...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D's Top 10 Fighter Subclasses Revealed!

It strikes me that all the Arcane Archer subclass needs is more uses of Arcane Shot. One extra use of Arcane Shot, each time a new Arcane Shot option is learned, is an easy fix. This puts the Arcane Archer, as doing a tad bit more damage with their Arcane Shot than a Battle Master with their...

D&D General Joe Manganiello's D&D Campaign Includes a Game of Thrones Creator & Vince Vaughn

Dire Bare can you point to anywhere in the thread where I have stated anything, remotely like demanding Joe announce anything? My position has nuance. Dude, also “you people” is not the preferred nomenclature. If we are talking about an individual gaming group, then we are also talking about...
