D&D 5E (2014) Arguments about if the help action breaks invisibility. This is the second title. A third title, Thread = Dead.

The thread about Mounted Combat is two threads over...but the horse is alive due to constant Disengage actions.

Untying you're shoe laces, breathing near you, whispering in your ear...all these things are distracting. An Invisible creature blowing in your ear would be scary as hell. Thank you for sharing your houserule. I respect your right to RPG Self Determination.🥳 In the Real Rules....😉...Just...

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC Dungeons & Dragons 2020 Product Survey

To monetize the point of play. The physical D&D products, like the Starter Set, that sold well at Target and Walmart pre-pandemic are not selling right now...and likely won't be for two years. If the pandemic has changed consumer habits, and WotC has a choice between setups like it already...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sneak Attack question

It less about Modeling ones view of reality, and rather more about accepting what the system says and finding a way to have fun with it. That is my mindset with 5e at least. Once I adopted this attitude, I grok'd 5e and have had fun with it. 5e is not designed to accurately model anything...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sneak Attack question

But them's the best kind! I get it, it even looks funny to read "sneak attack cavalry". It certainly makes me laugh. 🤣 Historically, it happened, though. A surprise attack by Calvary could be devasting. Sneak Attack Calvary makes me think of Goblin and Warg. A Unit made up of wolves the size...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sneak Attack question

Calvary is too super hero for you? I've got a wonderful comic book for you, then..... ........it is called history.⚔️🏺🛡⚰️ Sometimes, in this comic, thousands of Calvary super heroes are fighting against each other. 😀 .....its a pretty good read actually. 😀

Or a Divine Soul Sorcerer. A one level dip as a Divine Soul Sorcerer can grant access to Sanctuary and Shield of Faith. At low level the 10 minute concentration limit means it can last for multiple encounters in a fast paced scenario. The bonus action to cast is gravy. That would take the Imp...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sneak Attack question

Sure! Your skill with Saber and Horse is so prodigious that you can use any mount to deliver decapitating strikes to the neck. Sprinkle in some Scout subclass and the Outlander background, and one can easily model a scout from the steppe tribes. Sprinkle in some Swashbuckler and the Noble...

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC Dungeons & Dragons 2020 Product Survey

A WotC D&D VTT is essentially guaranteed at this point, based off this survey. This seems like a customer survey designed, (in part), to evaluate what features will get prioritized, and assigned to PMs. It very well might contain DM tools. Adios DND Beyond in the future? The other questions...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sneak Attack question

A free Dash or Disengage action is more than "just a bit" of mobility, it is a substantial bit. A party on mounts can be formidable. I also allow use of the Overrun action in my game, and add the option to Controlled Mounts as well. It has been used once....people love that free Disengage. 🐴 I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Halfling

The critique isn't meant for you specifically Mistwell. The TL;DR of the video is: The Giant Poisonous Snake is the Best Animal Companion Did reading the above sentence take someone 50 minutes? My critique is aimed towards those who have not already sunk an hour into watching the video. You...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Halfling

I really don't have any issue with Treantmonk at all. If I did I would just dismiss him, and not watch the video links you share. Instead I have watched, what you have posted. Being critical of an artist's work product is not the same as being dismissive or cruel to the artist themself...

D&D 5E (2014) The impact of overkill damage

So what I am reading is you saying "Close battles in 5e are so rare, that as a category, close battles can be discounted altogether in modeling". If that is not what you intended to say, then I am misunderstanding you. What is your support for your assertions? My D&D intake has dramatically...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Halfling

A Giant Poisonous Snake is a fine animal companion, many of the snake Animal Companion options essentially have Finesse Bite Attacks and 18 DEX. This might give Mistwell an aneurism but I watched the video....it is a bad presentation. Note I'm not saying Treantmonk is evil, wrong, or anything...

D&D 5E (2014) The impact of overkill damage

So your presumption is that battles where both sides are at low Hit Points, is so rare as to not even need to be considered. So your presumption is cases were a creature at 1 HP can still kill a PC if able to act, is negligible, and not to be considered. There is no proof that bolsters this...

    D&D 5E (2014) Classes that Suck

True grognards started playing the game before Non Weapon Proficencies or Skills we're even around. The DM picked a number and an ability score and the player started rolling dice... using "skills" with rotating ability scores isn't going to scare grognards. What does scare grognards is...

D&D 5E (2014) The impact of overkill damage

Tucker had his kobolds in 1e. In 5e we all get goblins! To be fair, bedevil means just that...the goblins are not going to win. Honestly, I figured that 60 goblins in tall, dry grass would guarantee a wild fire started by the PCs. I needed a wildfire plot point...without seeming like I had...

    D&D 5E (2014) Suggestion: Broken?

Aboleth's are fairly weak sauce. What makes them frightening is this: Probing Telepathy. If a creature communicates telepathically with the aboleth, the aboleth learns the creature's greatest desires ifthe aboleth can see the creature. That aboleth now has a psychological profile on the PC...

D&D 5E (2014) The impact of overkill damage

Sure, but in 5e this is reversed. A 10th level party can kill a solo clay golem in one and a half rounds easy. That same group can be bedeviled by 60 goblins and terrain that is favorable to the goblins, like tall grass and shrubs. Solo Monster dies hard, is a 5e truism.

D&D 5E (2014) The impact of overkill damage

I think this is an opinion ripe to be reconsidered. Being at 1 hp, does not reduce damage output. If three goblins out of a tribe of 30 goblins survive a fireball with 1 hp, and proceed to strike your character with 15 hp 3 times for 5 damage apiece....then yes your party is in mop up mode...
