    D&D 5E (2014) Rejecting the Premise in a Module

Scott, you acknowledged before this was hyperbole. I sort of hope you were trolling, because reading it makes me smile. I'd rather believe you intentionally meant for some to chuckle. Ok that statement reads a little sycophantic. There are official 5e adventures I can't even finish reading...

Use of "Professional Language" in Moderator Actions

Hello All. I would like to suggest that more neutral language, more "professional language" be utilized when moderators issue a warning. There should be, a more formal tone coupled with general politeness, that should make it clear to readers that this is an official moderator response...

D&D 5E (2014) Subclass System in 5e- Too Much, Too Little, or Just Right (GOLDILOCKS POLL!)

That is more an artifact of the designers and the design process, than something inherent to the system. The Psi Die mechanic was rejected by the playtest community, in part for being different. The published Oath of Glory Paladin subclass was rejected by some on this board as being "Weak", when...

D&D 5E (2014) Subclass System in 5e- Too Much, Too Little, or Just Right (GOLDILOCKS POLL!)

I reject that position, and renounce the clear demonic influence of Grazzt that leads you to advocate it...😈.....jokes aside: I disagree...strenuously! I find the tripartite structure of a character: Class/Subclass/Background(including Race here) is both broadly modular and capable of being...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Tier Ratings

Once Spirt Guardians arrives, how often are clerics meaningfully dealing damage through their weapon attacks? The classes damage comes through upcasting their spells.

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Tier Ratings

Rolled Stats....but I will say, that while I rolled better then the Default Array, it was not much better....instead of a 15 and a 14 in the default array it was two 16s instead. My DEX score is higher then my WIS score! As an aside, a Death priest/Monk of the Long Death M/C combo could be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Tier Ratings

I'm not sure it is needed. As a high Dex CoT, I use a shortbow or daggers if I want to add my Dex mod to damage or spells are problematic. An extra point or two of damage with a weapon is not going to significantly change the way I play it. The subclass is good at lower levels, but once other...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Tier Ratings

That is fair. I felt the same way, until I started playing one. Mechanically it holds up better then I thought it would. Even the most hard hearted, can't ignore Advantage. Since you can't self buff with it, it truly is a blessing for others. I use it on the Wizard's Familiar before it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Trickery Cleric gaining Proficiencies

Yep..Finger of Death for both of you...Arcane Caster for the win. 🤗 added to your quote....it is a good subclass for a m/c dip as well.

    D&D 5E (2014) Trickery Cleric gaining Proficiencies

I like Knowledge clerics as well....apparently poorly regarded cleric subclasses are my thing. Knowledge clerics can approximate a psychometric psychic character fairly well. Identify always being prepared is great. The 6th level Channel Divinity power is useful as well.

    D&D 5E (2014) Trickery Cleric gaining Proficiencies

Starting with 4 skills means the CoT is equal to the Rogue. Also between Dwarves and Elves for weapon proficiencies, Half Elves and Kenku for bonus skills, there are plenty of ways that already exist, that garner a PC extra proficencies. Yeah granting a +4 to +7 to a fellow PC's Stealth checks...

D&D 5E (2014) The impact of overkill damage

A 10th Level party encountering a Hobgoblin/goblin tribe with 60 members is not an unusual setup for 1e and 2e, and 5e. One aspect to be considered is that by RAW a PC can not breakup their movement between multiple attack rolls created by spell attacks. An 11th level Archer Fighter can shoot...

D&D General Why DPR Sucks: Discussing Whiteroom Theorycrafting

YES! So how do we develop an useful metric of action economy efficiency? Also all models involving concentration on spells should include a calculation of how likely it is the character will lose the spell upon taking damage. Likewise all models with attack rolls need to account for having a...

Yeah and Druids are so much better at charming plants, with their class powers like.......? Damn...maybe that CD is rather good after all 🌷

D&D General Why DPR Sucks: Discussing Whiteroom Theorycrafting

I have no problem with Treantmonk at all. I do think it is relevant to this conversation, which has it's genesis from his Monks Suck video essay, his public statements regarding DPS Calculation being an Art and the video just being his opinion, and not definitive. I didn't hack his email...

D&D General Why DPR Sucks: Discussing Whiteroom Theorycrafting

No but DPR is more akin to Points Per Game as a stat then Player Efficiency Rating. To use an old reference, even a chucker like Alan Iverson can make a PPG stat line look falsely impressive (when your points equal shots taken, something is awry). Treantmonk, to his disservice, has not embraced...

    D&D 5E (2014) Monks Suck

Except a bonus action Martial Arts attack, Unarmored Movement, Stillness of Mind, Evasion, Immunity to poison, and eventual proficiency in all saving throws. Sure, sure, you will probably argue that all monk abilities are poor, even the abilities other classes get like Evasion or immunity to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Monks Suck

No the Stun..Took out it's Legendary Actions. Esker are you stating that causing a creature to fail all STR or DEX Saving Throws is inconsequential? In Flatland, what are you hiding behind? No cover means no hiding. Familiars die fast. Readying actions is poor action economy, in general. The...
