Who are the big 3rd party publishers?

You may be right about that. There was talk of Freeport Companions for Pathfinder and 4E, but that might be it. As you say, they have their other product lines to focus on. -Havard

    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

True. There are many examples of this. Then again, WotC can choose to present the setting in a way which alienates 50% of its fans, or maybe they dont have to completely change everything with every edition. Most setting fan divides come from clumsy corporate decisios IMO. I agree. You cannot...

    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

Yes and no. One of the things I am most proud of about being part of the Piazza, is that we have been able to unify fans of Classic D&D, AD&D, 3E and 4E in friendly discussions. I believe the key to success of that forum has been our focus on settings rather than rules. If you like Dragonlance...

    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

Thanks for the XP. While it would be hard to disagree with that statement, my main point was to make a game that would appeal to a broader audience. Most editions seem to be designed to please those who complained the most about the previous edition. I think it could be possible to listen to...

    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

I think this was directed at my post. If so, I appologize. I did not mean that 4E is just for kids, although I can see that my post can be read that way. My point was that I want the next edition to be aimed at a broader audience. -Havard

Maze of Zayene on Loot, what are they?

Thanks for reminding me of these! Certainly a piece of lore from the roots of D&D worth looking into more closely. :) -Havard

    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

I'd like to see the next edition take a step back. Use 3E as a starting point, and then simplify that so that combat can be speedy without the heavy emphasis on tactical gaming which exists in 4E (and to some extent in 3E). Mike Mearls taked about unity among the fans. I would like to see WotC...

Short campaigns: breaking out of the Farmboy to Demigod model

We have tried some variants of this, though not exactly how you describe it. The main problem you need to deal with is that most players don't really care about the story, or the campaign. What they always care about is their character. Not just in terms of levels and XP, but also it is their...
