Here Comes THE WALKING DEAD TTRPG!

To really evoke the walking dead, I feel like you should have to roll a die everytime there's no arguments or emotional drama to see if zombies suddenly appear....

Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game Kickstarter is live!

Just got the books in Sydney today. They look great! Love the cloth map. Will be reading through it in the next week.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rebalancing melee weapons for 5.5E

I would have tk check the balance, but my inclination wluld be to have set damage for the weapon (the average) no str/dex mod, and instead use the hit die of your main class and add to that. So a fighter wielding a dagger would do 1d10+3, while a wizard with same would only do 1d6+3

D&D 5E (2024) Dropping armor proficiencies and using Strength as base for armor use.

The system was mentioned before but I've been running shadow of a demon lord for a number of years and the armour rules work fantastically. A magician can get heavy armor eventually, but they will have to sacrifice agility or willpower, which are also very useful.

D&D 5E (2024) What is the lowest damage Fireball could deal where you would still prep/use it?

I'd like 6d6 and a reduced radius. I'd like to see more 3rd level spells get a look in.

D&D 5E (2024) The new playtest Exhaustion rules has already fixed the exploration pillar a lot.

I prefer a the current exhaustion list reordered, however i'm not opposed to the proposed system. However my main gripe is how slow exhaustion is to recover. I personally would prefer maybe half hp healed on a long rest but all exhaustion is healed. On a short rest 1 exhaustion point is healed...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unused content

I've played the 4 elements to a high level and had a blast. I could fly into the middle of a group, cast fireball centred on self, succeed on a dex save and take no damage. Not the most effective use of power but the flavour of stuff like that was excellent.

    D&D 5E (2024) The rapier problem

Why is that a shortswod and scimitar problem? It's precisely why they would all be 1d6, so someone can choose what they want for flavour.

    D&D 5E (2024) The rapier problem

If I were to change it I'd just make a rapier 1d6 and be done with it. But i'd also make a club and hand axe finesse.

D&D 5E (2024) Jumping ahead: Bring back Bloodied for monsters

One thing I'd like to see used more in RPGs are reverse death spirals. Abilities at bloodied are one way I've seen to do that. One element I like about this is it gives you a buffer as a GM for setting encounter difficulty. The closer a party gets to a TPK the more abilities they get, which...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Focus Fire Problem

I haven't seen all the replies in this thread so I apologise if this has already been suggested. If you want to incentivise any kind of behaviour, in my opinion having a simple mechanic to incorporate that has the most effect. Most tools boil down to a carrot or a stick. Which one you prefer...

D&D General Rant: Sometimes I Hate the D&D Community

I don't ignore people that i have a different opinion with. But people who are consistently rude, aggressive or negative make my list. I don't kid myself that their tone or attitude will change, and I don't need to be exposed to it.

D&D General Rant: Sometimes I Hate the D&D Community

I am a big fan of thw ignore function. I have built up quite a list over the years. I wish I could have the same function in real life...

D&D General Rant: Sometimes I Hate the D&D Community

Yep. That's the point I give up on a thread and don't read the rest.

D&D General Rant: Sometimes I Hate the D&D Community

Keep fighting the good fight. I believe one of the best things we can do with our lives is to be a good example to others. ....if only i could put it into practice!

D&D General Rant: Sometimes I Hate the D&D Community

I know as an occassional poster here i can often back out of posting something because someone is looking to pick a fight of prove something that really doesn't matter. Imagine how it looks for the community that read these posts but don't actively get involved. I for one get routinely...

D&D 5E (2024) One D&D origins playtest survey is live

As someone that routinely rolls less than average even on crits, I support this initiative.

    D&D 5E (2024) DM's no longer getting crits on PC's

I've used foreshadowing fairly often - most notably in dungeonworld which requires it if played correctly - and I've always found it great. Even just so the players can get an idea on who the monster is likely to target on their turn adds a lot to combat. If you tell the party the barghest...

    D&D 5E (2024) DM's no longer getting crits on PC's

I really like the idea of monster recharges on a crit, it could make for sone interesting design espdcially in cases where you might have a monster with a devastating recharge ability. Anything that adds more strategy and/or tactics to d&d is good for me.

D&D 5E (2024) Put initial stat bonus in class not background

I apologise for inciting the race issue in this thread. I should have known better. I for one enjoy the idea of ASIs to background. I'm not trying to make a political or moral statement with my games, I just want to make a fun story. And to me, I find the fun story to come from the wizard in...
