Do You Sometimes Purchase RPG Books Just To Read (Not For Play Purposes)?

Occasionally I purchased some RPG book and never found a practical chance to play it, but the original intent was always to play.

Do You Prefer to Play a Human PC When RPGing?

I prefer playing a human. I feel I can relate better to the character and, somehow, I can dream about the character being me in some very strange situation.

Do You Prefer 4 Or More Players (+ DM) When RPGing?

The "right" number of players (for me) is three to five, plus the GM, so it is difficult to me to vote in the poll, as I am half way through. Let's say that I take the average (four players) and move on from there.

The strange feeling of being "mainstream"... just for once... :p

When you give up on RPGs because you hate the system.

There are simpler systems, but you need to find somebody that wants to play them with you (perhaps online?). In alternative, there are gamebooks (think about Fighting Fantasy or Lone Wolf, for example) that can be the closest thing and you don't need anybody else to play them. Anyway, don't...

Single mechanics from an RPG you love

I absolutey love the "sight duel" from Oriental Adventures: the two opponents, before starting their fight, stare at each other in the eyes and "live" the battle to come in their minds. The outcome of the sight duel might mean that often the duel isn't really fought with physical weapons, but...

    Calidar: Dreams of Aerie

5 out of 5 rating for Calidar -- Dreams of Aerie The first aspect of Dreams of Aerie that impresses the reader are the artwork and the great, coloured maps. Then you get the brilliant concept of this setting-adventure: it is a Flying Circus (in the sense that it is a circus set on a huge flying...

D&D 5E (2014) Oriental Adventures 5e: How would you do it?

My biggest takeaway from Oriental Adventures is the Sight Duel, that can be converted to 5e quite easily (and that could be all!), while you can manage and customize weapons, artifacts, classes and races taken from oriental mythology as you like, with no huge issue. I just wouldn't mix up too...

What Do You Mean By "Fun" In Your RPG?

I think that, while you try to provide fun that you "planned" ahead of the game, sometimes players tell you they had special fun with a game and you recognize it retrospectively, although you didn't plan a lot for that.

    IRON DM 2017 Tournament

What I learnt is that writing a 750 words adventure with six ingredients and to the kind of standard required takes much longer than one hour (the synthesis work is simply overwhelming and deciding what to cut and what to leave is a cruel exercise that needs plenty of reviews) and at the moment...
