The OGL: Why is this really happening, and what to do now...

And here's another attitude I think we're going to be seeing more of as the weeks and months go on: just laughing in their face and giving them the🖕🖕 bird. AAW games (they've got some names that I can't think of right now, but they've got some industry heads writing for them) has stated...

If the authorizing a decades established open license sets a legal precedent for open licenses outside the world of ttrpgs, then they very much need to back down, because they're going to disrupt a lot more than their own market.

You are absolutely completely wrong, IF and only IF wizards of the coasts attempts at shutting down ogl 1.0 a would set a precedent for open licenses outside the world of tabletop gaming, for example, software. If that were established as a universal precedent, there is no way it could be...

It's more of a gut instinct than quotable sources or anything like that. Hanging out on enworld puts you more in the loop than you appear to realize. There are industry folks that hang out around here.

The OGL: Why is this really happening, and what to do now...

Not so IF wizards of the coasts shenanigans are found to be setting a precedent for other open licenses outside of just the tabletop gaming world, for example, software. Setting a precedent that open licenses (outside of just the table top gaming community) can be voided on a whim would cause...

The OGL: Why is this really happening, and what to do now...

I'm hearing the conversation from industry people and 3pp's beginning to shift from speculating about the legality or lack thereof of "deauthorizing" OGL1.0a to how to get 3pp's organized and start prepping for legal action. WoTC must back down on "deauthorizing" OGL1.0a. They are set on a...

Doh! Codega is on All Things Considered tomorrow. I don't know NPR's program schedule. I thought "morning" was said in an interview with roll for combat earlier today, but I may be mistaken.

Which could very well be where this is headed. That, or class action suit... antitrust lawsuit from the government... Jeepers. (<---Again, as I've consistently restated, this is my official position on this whole mess.)

I don't say that because anyone should consider even for a second using any OGL stewarded by WoTC ever again--that shxt is some hot poison now--but because they're going to cause some real damage with these shenanigans.

The title is unfortunately sensationalistic and perhaps bordering on clickbaity but the content is rock solid. It's time for Wizards to back down on "deauthorizing" 1.0a. This path is going to lead to disaster. TRILLIONS at Risk: The Strategy to DEFEAT Hasbro and WotC in their Attack on Open...

Codega will be on NPR All Things Considered tomorrow morning. Pretty sure I know which way Codega leans.

I now believe it's a red herring. Put in "Irrevocable" and then watch them move on to "Abolish, void, nullify, renounce, repeal, retract, vacate, rescind, or repeal" 1.0a. Or just figure out a different attack vector. The reason WoTC now needs to be challenged and defeated in court is because...

    Don't Give Ground

They can do whatever the heck they want with ogl1.2--it doesn't matter. Demand firstborn children to the 5th generation, tell everyone they now have to work in a coal mine, take one wall and the roof from every structure owned by those agreeing to 1.2.... doesn't matter. Go for it. 1.0a cannot...

What is the most scathing feedback you left?(+)

I left basically some variant of the same feedback on every page of the survey: WoTC must reverse course and fully walk back on any attempt to "deauthorize" 1.0a. OGL1.0a cannot be "deauthorized." And that's about all I said in most cases.
