    Good alternatives to proper miniatures?

I've also just used spare D6s.. Which is helpful. You can place them numbered side up to differentiate them. So the die with the "1" facing up is the Goblin Shaman, and "2" is the warrior who already took damage, but "3" is the one that hasn't been hit yet. etc..

    Good alternatives to proper miniatures?

I am tempted to buy an order of those Meeples. I can't find them now of course... But I purchased a package of "Peeples" which are kind of like the Meeples but plastic, and with round heads. I really like them, but I need to find a way to number them or something. 10 red goblins is fine.. But...

House of the Dragon spoiler thread

The bed scene with Aegon was pretty gruesome. I think the thesis of the episode was supposed to be "War is Hell, and Dragon War Doubly So". We had the scene of the dragon head being carted through the streets, and then Cole gushing about his shellshock to Allicent.. (If he's Sir Criston, does...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I've never actually played a Bard in D&D. My first BG3 character was one however.. And I think the next time I get to opportunity to play one I may roll up a bard. But yes.. Words can be deadly.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Hah. I'm going through my semiannual two-week mine binge at the moment. Found a seed that spawns you on a cute little island. I cheated in two tree saplings and have been going from there.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Right? Another one recently closed in the same area, and I think they put up this one to replace it. It's smaller and in a strip mall rather than being one of the big traditional stand-alone stores.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yesterday the girlfriend and I went to go check out a new Barnes and Noble that had recently opened. They had "The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons 1970-1977" on the shelf with all the D&D books. It's massive.. Like a textbook really. Sadly it was plastic wrapped so I couldn't thumb through...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The mobility scooters I can excuse. If you need one, I won't fault you for leaving it behind. I almost died a few years ago, and spent a couple months hospitalized. During the time after I was released I was considered "Temporarily disabled" and one of the biggest things, was just energy. My...

House of the Dragon spoiler thread

I think maybe she was thinking she killed Aegon and his dragon, and she thought if she could kill Vhgar, or at the very least cripple here she'd give her side a major advantage. Like trading a Knight or a Bishop for another Knight and the enemy's Queen. You lose a piece, but end up advantaged in...

    Today I learned +

You know.. I forgot to mention it in the Quentin Tarantino thread when I was gushing about how much I love Django Unchained.. But I went out and purchased that soundtrack as well. There's a James Brown X 2Pac mashup on that track that is so good. It's going to be on repeat for me all weekend now...

User Name and Avatars: Origin Stories

Cable companies are the worst. Where I lived in Central Ohio, it was Time Warner, and then bought out by Spectrum. They were always great to me. When I called to get my cable connected the lady told me about about how the government was providing a grant for home broadband (This was in the midst...

User Name and Avatars: Origin Stories

I previously had Spectrum(Which is a TimeWarner subsidiary) and paid $30/mo for the first year and then it went up to $45 the year after for just internet. It was a drag. With that said, I had zero complaints about the service. I never had an outage, and always got great speeds. I moved to a...

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

No.. You're not.. Many have come in with that mindset, and also apparently the mindset of "Is reading the original post necessary?"

What Actors In Specific Roles Are A Joy To Watch for You?

I love Carey Elwes.. I've found myself re-watching movies I'd seen in my youth and noticing that he's in them. "Glory" is the recent example. I was visiting my parents a few weekends ago, and my dad had it on the TV and they were pointing out some of the big names in it like Denzel or...

D&D General Don't Point a Loaded Beholder at a Player Character You're Not Willing to Disintegrate

I like this option. I'll be using it for sure. The pit is already there. In the adventure there is an underground grove where the actual villain of the story resides. I was thinking about how far it should be. Per the adventure it's 80'.. Which I might shorten to 50'-60'. It's still deep...

D&D General Don't Point a Loaded Beholder at a Player Character You're Not Willing to Disintegrate

This is a really good idea. I like tiers of success, and this is a good way to use it. I can make the risk of just plummeting to the bottom low, but still possible.. Maybe if they roll under a DC8.. And then scale it up giving them better and better positions the higher they roll. This is a...

What Actors In Specific Roles Are A Joy To Watch for You?

Karl Urban has impressed me in EVERYTHING I've seen him in. I remember watching Dredd and being super impressed. I was like "Dang.. Who is this guy and why have I never seen him before?" so I look him up on IMDB and realize, I have seen him before.. A lot actually! A lot of people meme about...

D&D General Don't Point a Loaded Beholder at a Player Character You're Not Willing to Disintegrate

I originally was going to title this with an expression about firearms, but decided to make it more on-brand. I want to ask a question, and ask for some advice regarding how to handle purposefully deadly encounters. Spoilers ahead for the 20 year old adventure The Sunless Citadel. If you're...

House of the Dragon spoiler thread

I also have not read the books, but I've dug into some wikis and stuff.. Vhegar was the dragon that one of Aegon the Conqueror's wives flew. So that means she is at least ~4 generations old. And I think that box of eggs, was indeed, the box of eggs. The colors match at least.
