WotC Frylock's Gaming & Geekery Challenges WotC's Copyright Claims

I should have been more clear. The onus would be on the content creator using the material to report it. DM's Guild could then impose sanctions/penalties for failure to comply. Back to the original discussion.. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins. If I am not mistaken, wasn't it fairly...

I would be satisfied if they had a requirement that you be informed when your material is used by another party.

WotC Frylock's Gaming & Geekery Challenges WotC's Copyright Claims

DM's Guild already has horrible protection for content creators. Anyone can take your material and use it in their product, so long as it is for sale on DM's Guild. They can't repackage it under a different title, but there is no clear line about how much is too much.

WotC Frylock's Gaming & Geekery Challenges WotC's Copyright Claims

I believe his argument is that since concepts like "Hit Points" and "Rock" can't be copyrighted, the underlying values need to have a sufficient amount of "creativity". Simply assigning a value to "hit points" is not creative enough. Hence, it is not copyrightable, and he can just duplicate...

    D&D General Biggest DM regret

My first D&D game, 1978, was a solo game where I played two characters at once. My Halfling fighter was at zero hit points, but not dead, and my human magic-user was bringing him out of the dungeon using Tenser's Floating Disc. I had zero knowledge of spell duration. Spell expired. Halfling...

Correct. Adventurer's League follows RAW with no optional rules allowed (Although they sometimes include funky seasonal rule variants).

"It crit hit and maxed both damage dice, instant kill at level 1." See above. If it was a normal hit, the character would have been making death saving throws. Also, it is not a variant rule. It is a base rule listed in PHB.

    D&D General Biggest DM regret

The 5e insta-kill rule is problematic at first level. It makes more sense at level 2 or higher, but at level 1 it breaks down and just becomes a bad rule. I would guess 80-90% of the time I have had an insta-kill due to massive damage, it is against a level 1 character. I don't believe that...

    Vampire 5 Organized Play Launches

Modiphius publishes the tabletop game. I don't think the RPG publishers have ever been involved with the various LARP groups.

D&D General The Evolution of Tieflings in D&D: Interviews with Zeb Cook and Colin McComb

That is sort of how I worked in Dragonborn. They were magically genetically engineered warriors used by the Suel and Bakluni to fight their wars.

D&D General The Evolution of Tieflings in D&D: Interviews with Zeb Cook and Colin McComb

I am not a huge fan, but I did have a younger player start playing a tiefling in one of my home games. It has good role play potential, and she does a great job with it. Of course, I run in Greyhawk, so I had to fit them in. I ended up just tying them to Iuz and the Greyhawk wars, which seemed...

D&D General Gamer Stats From White Dwarf in the 80s

Went to college in 1986. I only knew of 2 female gamers, one of whom later went to work for TSR. They were very rare.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Earthdawn, Wicked Ones, The Strapping Lads, Vigilante City 2, and more

Gemstone is still around? Wow. SimuCon is apparently run by the company that produces the Gemstone online games. I had a roommate in college in the late 80's who played Gemstone II, a text based online RPG. I seem to recall it cost $6/hour to play (about $12/hour in 2019 $ after adjusting...
