    Where's Our D&D Theme Park?

Call me when they implement Larry Niven's Dream Park!

Comic-book Author Jim Zub On D&D's Surge In Recent Years

Halfling feet? Gnome noses need to be three times their current size! One thought while reading the first half of his list, most of those items haven't changed in 40 years! They are what attracted me to D&D. I think the entire list is spot on. It is a great time for the hobby.

Critical Role Critical Role's Kickstarter Breaks $1,000,000 In About An Hour!

It was based on the characters they played in Campaign 1, which were brought in from a Pathfinder campaign they were playing before they started streaming. Each of the characters has a pretty strong following, so changing horses in midstream wouldn't really work.

Critical Role Critical Role's Kickstarter Breaks $1,000,000 In About An Hour!

I didn't make it through season 1, but have managed to keep up with season 2 so far. I have commented previously about how I run into a ton of people under 30 who cite CR as their intro to D&D. When I talk to fellow grognards, most of them have minimized the influence of CR. Just came to say...

B&G's Sinister Silver Edition of Ghosts of Saltmarsh

$12 for a box of 4 from WizKids. Lets say they include 48 of them, that is $144 retail. Throw in some maps and little tchotchkes and charge $300-$350. I would be all-in at that price. Granted, they would have to coordinate to get specific minis, but that is why I am paying a premium.

B&G's Sinister Silver Edition of Ghosts of Saltmarsh

I spoke with the people behind this at a convention. I told them if they produced a box set that included pre-painted mini's, they would make an easy sale. Looks like the went the opposite direction, removing the mini's entirely.

Do you want Greyhawk updated to 5e?

I would love to have Greyhawk converted to 5e, but not updated. What I mean, just give me 5e stats for the original boxed set and provide more details where applicable. What I don't want is world shattering cataclysms. It really makes no sense to me why they do that to any setting...

    It's a Good Thing D&D Isn't a Toy

I agree a big budget movie would be the next logical step. They have also failed to produce a decent D&D video game for many years, which is another area that could generate substantial income. Given the development time for both those projects, they better get something started soon or it may...

    2-hour adventures

If you look through the Adventurer's League section of dmsguild.com you will find several 2 hour adventures. Often they are listed as 2-4 hours as they can be played in as short as 2, or played with added content to stretch them to 4. They are becoming more popular since they work better for...

DMs, when have you found it necessary to fire a player from your table?

40 years of DMing and I have never had to kick someone. There were several times where we let a problematic player 'drift away', basically not keeping them informed of the next session. I think I have managed to avoid this problem over the years by being careful who I invite to game and also...

So is it official now? Counterspelling

From AL DMG "You’re Empowered. Make decisions about how the group interacts with the adventure; adjust or improvise but maintain the adventure’s spirit. This doesn’t allow you to implement new rules, however." AL DM's have leeway, but they are expected to follow rules as written whenever...

So is it official now? Counterspelling

Compendium is also pretty clear that you get only one sneak attack per turn, but could get more than one each round. Can a rogue use Sneak Attack more than once per round? The Sneak Attack description specifies that you can use the feature once per turn, but it’s not limited to your turn. The...

So is it official now? Counterspelling

You mean this one? That says he cannot do it on his turn? It supports my interpretation. https://www.sageadvice.eu/2017/12/07/rogue-uses-sneak-attack-on-his-turn-can-he-also-use-sneak-attack-on-a-reaction/ Rogue uses sneak attack on his turn can he also use sneak attack on a reaction...

Fair enough. I have added said disclaimer to my initial post :)

So is it official now? Counterspelling

I am not suggesting that and am not sure what point you are making. I have a ton of opinions on how I THINK some of the 5e rules should be written, but am discussing RAW in this thread. If you have a RAW citation for your statement that reactions happen outside of the round structure, I would...

So is it official now? Counterspelling

That post was specifically talking about a scenario where you HAD cast a bonus action spell on your turn. I went to great pains to point out it was a very limited scenario and use clear and precise language.

So is it official now? Counterspelling

Citation? I have heard people make that claim, but I don't recall ever seeing it from an official source. The PHB states "A reaction is an instant response to a trigger of some kind, which can occur on your turn or on someone else's." That seems pretty black and white to me. EDIT: You could...

Critical Role Critical Role Goes Independent From Thursday

Can any critters explain the 'Bidet' greeting? I have run into it before but am not sure of it's origin story and am curious.
