D&D 5E (2014) Need a complete list of all point buy combos for 5e

I'm working on a random character generator project. Have any of you generated a list of the point buy combos for 5e? It can't be that many. Please help. jh

Hey DMs, what are your quirks at the table?

    * I only do voices for recurring NPCs of importance * I describe things verbosely (except in this post) * I skip slow players during combat..my general rule is you have as many seconds to tell me what you're doing as the INT of your character * I usually offer options so the players don't sit...

WFRP3 'suddenly' announced dead after 2 years of no production

I would recommend that FFG give up the license as soon as possible to a company that will actually nurture it and its fandom..and communicate with them directly, rather than on billboards bragging about how they ran a successful 25 year franchise into the ground. I started enjoying this setting...

WFRP3 'suddenly' announced dead after 2 years of no production

FYI for those of you who pay attention to this sort of thing: http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?showforum=134 This should solve the problem of all those pesky wfrp fans asking questions incessantly at gencon...

D&D 5E (2014) How many of your campaigns ACTUALLY ever get to 20th level?

I've been playing since 81. We've never had characters get above abotu 14th (htat was our conan 3.5 variant), except back when we were kids (<14) and our characters leveled because we felt like leveling them. There was one 44th level wizard (Merlin). My fighter, Taraz, reached 36th. Rob's...

D&D 5E (2014) How many of your campaigns ACTUALLY ever get to 20th level?

How many of your campaigns ACTUALLY ever get to 20th level? We find all kinds of cool combinations and broken goodness at upper levels, but honestly, I usually get bored or burned out around 12th. How frequently do you guys ever get your D&D/Pathfinder campaigns up to 20th level? jh

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the best way to mimic a "willpower" mechanic in D&D 5e?

Thanks for the comments Kinak. We normally play WFRP3 and other games where social mechanics are hard-coded into the game as strongly as combat-murder, disease, insanity, shame, and crippling relationship ties (such as is used in the Smallville game). If they can handle that, they can...

D&D 5E (2014) Starter set cover art meh?

Ugh! I remember those days. They'd pull crap like that and name their encounters after pop music lyrics and other really tacky things. It's one thing to have some fun with it. It's another thing to make the whole hobby a joke and trivialize it like Lorraine Williams truly wanted it to be...

D&D 5E (2014) Starter set cover art meh?

Jeff Grubb has some choice things to say about cover art as well: http://grubbstreet.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/players-handbook.html Any speculation on why they would deliberately hide the "d&d" logo like that? I personally like the PHB cover art for its flare, brightness and action appearance. jh

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the best way to mimic a "willpower" mechanic in D&D 5e?

Lalato's and this idea are both liked :)

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the best way to mimic a "willpower" mechanic in D&D 5e?

I'm not a fan of having to roleplay torture until the player breaks ;) ..but I did read that book... ;) This gets a bit on the topic of social mechanics: Along these same lines of thinking, I prefer a solid mechanic for social consequences of "serious" things (e.g. insanity, stress, etc.)...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the best way to mimic a "willpower" mechanic in D&D 5e?

The reason I ask is that I have an upcoming scenario where an NPC or PC (secondary character) will have only so long before they break on the rack and the PCs need to save the character. I'm interested in seeing different ideas for mechanics beyond single pass/fail saves, but ideas on how long...

How about "resist torture?" Con or Wisdom? jh

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the best way to mimic a "willpower" mechanic in D&D 5e?

What's the best way to mimic a "willpower" mechanic in D&D 5e? Specifically, these situations I estimate may need to be addressed (I may think of others later): Mental endurance holding up to torture (for example), repeated insanity effects (to prevent gaining a permanent insanity), the will...

    Random Character Generator (beta 1.0)

Updated to include a 4d6-low die and set up by class to receive the highest two scores. I can't finish the skills, bard, etc., until I get my PHB next week.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition -- Help Me Break the Game!

Good thread. As a GM, I enjoy reading these. It gives me bearings on what to expect, and if I see anything that looks crazy, I get a chance to nerf its possibility. jh

    Random Character Generator (beta 1.0)

This is a modified version from my WFRP random character generator. It runs on MS Excel. So far, it generates basic random stats, hp, name, race, class and background. I'll be adding stuff as I go. Feel free to steal the code to do with it what you will :)...

    D&D 5E (2014) My thoughts on 5E

I hope this isn't getting too off topic, but the reason my group quit 4e on me was as follows (this after decades of D&D-only campaigns): * Too much accounting for petty modifiers * Difficult to shoehorn and house rule * Needed a computer at the table to track who was marked and whatever all...

Quarantine, schmarantine: we're all gonna die!

Ha! I never thought of it that way. Other than antibiotic resistant bacteria (MRSA) infections, which were created by indiscriminate use of medications, and have eliminated our ability to adequately treat something as simple as a zombieism-related sinus infection, when the plague hits, only...
