New edition of Dark Heresy/40K rpg is called..Imperium Maledictum.

My players really love 40k and have read many of the books. I've always been a Fantasy guy myself, so it's a chance to sit back and be a player. If it injects more roleplay and ditches the SHEER WEIGHT of other character building rulesets I'll be thrilled.

D&D 5E (2014) What (if anything) do you find "wrong" with 5E?

Lack of any real danger d t the After several years in other game systems I can see dnd's biggest flaw is the LACK of multiple weaknesses for characters. Not instantly heal-able forms of: Psychology/Permanent Insanity Diseases Afflictions Curses Ability Damage Saving throw proficiency Damage...

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting a 1e adventure to 5e - anything to keep in mind?

Im running Citadel by the sea (Dragon #78) at an upcoming con. Im going to run it as 5e. Seems like 1e and 5e are pretty close. Any tips on conversion I should be wary of? This adventure is for levels 1-3 abd has a lot of orcs.

New edition of Dark Heresy/40K rpg is called..Imperium Maledictum.

I saw the announcement yesterday. The name does not convey "non-Space-Marine 40k Roleplaying", but at least its a new update to the d100 systems of the past. Thoughts? Hopes? https://cubicle7games.com/announcing-warhammer-40000-imperium-maledictum/

    AD&D 1E Common House Rules for AD&D?

Yea, we just never limited ourselves to just the few weapons. My sentence needed a period in there. Stupid phone :)

    AD&D 1E Common House Rules for AD&D?

Death at negative CON Bonus spells for wizard intelligence (same as cleric) We didn't use weapon speed, length, but did oftentimes use AC modifiers by weapon. 20 Critical (double damage), 1 (drop weapon out of reach or can break the weapon to do a critical). Hero Points (From dragon #118)...

AD&D 1E How many spells can you cast per round if casting time is less than 1 round?

How many spells can you cast per round if casting time is less than 1 round? I noticed that Command's casting time is only 1 segment. Also, does this coordinate with Weapon Speed time? If a spell has a 1 round casting time, does that mean that the caster simply cannot move that round?

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

I agree with that. Starting first with the evolution of the game: a giant dungeon crawl about Zagyg isn't really of interest (except to us hardcore Greyhawkers anymore, and even then Id be hard pressed to bother to run it.) I really like the new approach of a good, long adventure campaign...

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

Its like pro-NFL team ownership. Its best when its simple. Ed Greenwood sold his rights to TSR for what? $5 grand. Hes been incredibly decent about it. Wotc has rights to Greyhawk, but not Gary's old stuff--Gail is holding onto that until she dies and her son (not Luke or Ernie--shes made...

    I've introduced my 5th ed group to AD&D 2E

During the forced world shutdown, we played A4 Slavelords dungeon with 1e (yes, naked with a dagger). We had a blast. No Im keen to run it again. During 2008-2014-ish we switched to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It has MUCH lower hit points (wound threshold) but damage still scales up...

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

There was a very interesting discussion on the Greyhawk materials that Gail Gygax is still holding hostage in the Ben Riggs interview by Jay Scott--as well as her troubling interview in Kotaku.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

I just finished the book, Slaying the Dragon, by Ben Riggs. The biggest takeaway for me was clarity about how multiple game settings was a major killer for TSR. When Wizards bought TSR, they realized they needed to create fans of dnd products, rather than followers of a setting because people...

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

Gygax based his ideas on novels that few of us have read in this late era. Little of it is Tolkien or direct-Earth-analogue. Much of it is Lieber, P.Anderson, and Vance--who had some Earth analogues. Short elves. Non-arthurian LG paladins, etc. Roger Moores latest WoG interview w Jay Scott...

How Often Do You Lose Interest in Pre-Orders/KS By the Time They Arrive?

I got burned out after ALIEN. I realized I was only going to play it once.
