D&D 5E (2014) Warlock Thoughts (Spell Points, Invocations, Blade Pact)

I love the Bladelock, but think that scaling is a bit crazy. I think valor bard is your best example for this. A full casting melee character, gets 1 extra attack at 6th, and medium armor + Shields. I would be fine if those came with the Blade Pact. I agree that AB looks like a requirement...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Starter Spells; Plus UA Returning To Monthly & Sage Advice Returning

While it is generally a good idea to have different classes be different, I do not consider that as a requirement that Warlocks be Evil, or even that sketchy. What I meant by them being the same is that they both gain powers from an extra-dimensional being of great power. I don't understand why...

    D&D 5E (2014) Proposed Fix for Whack-a-Mole Healing

However, it is an objective statement of fact. "Whack-a-mole healing" is a problem for the OP. They have a houserule that could help fix it, and put it up so others who view it the same way might find it helpful. The OP did not at all say that everyone has the problem, and needs to use X to fix...

    D&D 5E (2014) Proposed Fix for Whack-a-Mole Healing

Disagreeing on how to fix a problem is great, it encourages different thought, rather than stagnation. The only time a disagreement is bad is when one side chooses to be a dick about it. Even the people saying to just follow RAW aren't being dicks, I just find it odd that some people seem to...

Actually, my opinion of the cleric is the opposite. I hate how flat it is, and how all of the gods apparently give almost the exact same powers to their champions. Wizards make sense that way, they are all learning from past generations, so there is bound to be a similarity. Clerics though? A...

    D&D 5E (2014) Proposed Fix for Whack-a-Mole Healing

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of people on here (The 5E forum in general) tend to shut down any house rule ideas? Seems like any thread that starts with "I had a problem, here is how I fixed it" gets responses along the lines of "No, it's fine. Just do it by RAW." On topic, I like the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Misty Step in manacles?

I can't even fathom all the possibilities. I would need to know the full spell list, and the terrain, to get really creative.

D&D 5E (2014) What would you prefer, and why? A question on attacks

Personally, 5 attacks at disadvantage. I like making attacks, as many as possible. Rolling more dice is just icing on the cake. Also, the 5 attacks has the highest potential damage, assuming a reasonable to-hit chance. I might lean more towards the 3 or 2 if my target AC was something like 24...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best Class and Why???

Have you watched DM tips by Mercer? They are not all gold, but his Homebrew one is interesting, and recommends building things even if your players are not interested in it. After all, you have NPCs, you can give them your homebrew classes. The same thing applies here I think. If you have a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Misty Step in manacles?

Sounds like a perfect chase scene. Have him misty step twice, if he can, putting him a good way off from the players, but still in his handcuffs. Now he has to run, possibly needing to make acrobatics checks now and then to not fall over. Give your players a good chance of catching him, as is...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Starter Spells; Plus UA Returning To Monthly & Sage Advice Returning

Is there an inherent problem with the Warlock being a Cleric with different mechanics? That is basically how I view them, and have since the beginning. It might be because I don't have any history in the game to make me lean a different way. Cleric is actually at the top of my list for classes...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Starter Spells; Plus UA Returning To Monthly & Sage Advice Returning

The picture on the Warlock class is just about the most "Witchy" picture I could imagine. That aside, I agree that they should be capable of medicine, and will probably add that to the list in my games going forward. If you have or know players who would pull that trick, I feel sorry for you...

So, the most Witch-like class, shouldn't be able to brew potions. I feel like this is more of that "Warlock can only be evil" sentiment I have been noticing lately.

    D&D 5E (2014) Misty Step in manacles?

cue DM saying "You didn't specify you wanted your Staff to teleport with you". I think the way that makes the most sense is as Croesus put it above. If the manacles can't move, you escape them. If they can, they travel with you.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best Class and Why???

You could also do a pretty nice EK "seemingly harmless" fighter. Grab Mage armor, and leave your Bonded weapon sitting in an armory somewhere. Then, out of nowhere, you can be armed and armored in a single turn. Maybe even mix a little Kensai(UA) so you can dump Strength and be a Dex greatsword...

Actually, IIRC, the spell does not specify a limit of 2. It just says adults. It is just that the default thought for most people is a pair, so that is what gets used in the example.

D&D 5E (2014) Replacing Sculpt Spells feature for School of Evocation wizards?

Just make it bonus damage. As an Evocation wizard you add X number of damage dice to Evocation spells. This number increases at level (Y), (W), (Z), and (P). This adds even more need for tactics, because you could be hitting your allies with an even bigger amount of damage if you don't place it...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Starter Spells; Plus UA Returning To Monthly & Sage Advice Returning

I think that is wrong. "The first time you make a weapon attack on your turn during the duration" So, the spell lasts 1 minute. The first time you make a weapon attack in that minute, and only the first time (even if it is 3 turns after you cast the spell), you gain the benefit. It does not...

In that case, I would probably include a clause for renewal, along the lines of "A creature can only benefit from this spell once, or it can be renewed with the same consenting adult as before to continue the effects."
