AD&D weapon speed vs 5e turn based combat?

Because you added your speed factor to your initiative roll. It was quite critical if you were facing an enemy spellcaster. You could cast cone of cold for heavy AOE damage, but which penalized your initiative roll by 5 or you could cast magic missile and have a high change of interrupting...

AD&D weapon speed vs 5e turn based combat?

One of the great things in 1e/2e was weapon speed/factor which was added to the initiative roll. In those days you would decide what to do each round first, resolve initiative adding the weapon speed or spell casting time to the init roll and then do it on your turn. This made for both a...

    Sorting armor by effectiveness

Alright, I got this, slimmed down and chain < brig. You can't add a breastplate/helm to heavy armor. TR=

    Sorting armor by effectiveness

Good points in your post, appreciate it. I haven't decided on what benefits one armor may give over the other beyond some obvious ones for very light or very heavy armor. I'm guessing cost will be the main thing. Helmet and breastplate probably are good single items, I think I will add. I do...

    Sorting armor by effectiveness

I don't think I need bronze, it doesn't fit into my high fantasy setting as much. I might add partial items later, like a single breast plate or helm but I'm on the fence as to whether I want that complexity.

    Sorting armor by effectiveness

Does this look decent, as a generic list of armor sorted by effectiveness (not D&D specific) (weakest) LEATHER STUDDED LEATHER SCALE RING MAIL LAMELLAR BRIGANDINE CHAIN MAIL PLATE MAIL SPLINT FULL PLATE Does anything stand out as being out of order? thanks! Updated 4/21

Name some faerie alternatives for a new species?

Hillfey is pretty cool, I like that as another option. Red caps too evil, pech maybe too much like gnome.

Name some faerie alternatives for a new species?

Seelie seems decent, I'll have to think about it, I don't want my faeries to be silly of course, these are serious fey :-)

Name some faerie alternatives for a new species?

Thats a blast from the past, forgot about them. Its a really good choice but I can't use a D&D one due to copyright. Doing a little googling though it does give me a related option (Korrigan - Wikipedia) that is maybe where it came from.

Name some faerie alternatives for a new species?

I mean to say I already have elf, dwarf, gnome. Kobold is too D&D for me, looking for a less obvious choice.

Name some faerie alternatives for a new species?

So I'm a little over hobbits and halflings, so I would like find a race like "faerie" but I don't want one with wings. There are leprechauns and brownies but I think they are too small, I would like a species that is at least 4' tall? I think faun is a possibility. But what other alternatives...

Cost of having a DnD module written then/now?

Sounds right. Art I had to search world wide to find costs I can afford, but not sure where to find freelance writers yet.

Cost of having a DnD module written then/now?

So ignoring the cost of the artwork, how much do you think contract writers were paid back in the old days to write a basic 30 page basic/1e module? Now if one were want to find a writer to write you a custom module, where would you find someone and how much would in cost nowadays? While...

Have your seen an TTRPG license that is open for modules?

I see, so a SRD is the way to go. That makes sense, thanks!

Have your seen an TTRPG license that is open for modules?

Right, but thats pretty restrictive if you write an adventure, forcing you to share profits, I would prefer to let anyone keep all their profits in order to encourage them to make content. Obviously you wouldn't want to use a creative commons license since then you are giving up the rights to...
