    TikTok TTRPG

@cavernsandcavetrolls https://www.tiktok.com/@cavernsandcavetrolls A follower would be great lol. I'd like more RPG accounts to follow so I can tailor my algorithm.

Creating a new TTRPG Player's Manual

Interesting, it would bother me more to have zero art versus defaced art. But I can see your point. The book has to be a single book cause lulu is so expensive, but I could split up the PDFs, PHB+1st adventure for free, DMG+MM for $5. I don't expect to make my investment back, but if I do...

Creating a new TTRPG Player's Manual

I totally agree. The part I'm struggling to decide on is how to implement it. Lets say you create a product and you spend $10,000 on art. Do you want to give that art away for free in a digital format as is? Seems kind of sad to have to do so. One idea I had was you do the PDF but on each...

Creating a new TTRPG Player's Manual

I thought about this, but I just can't do it because the PDF because unreadable (at least in my mind) without the art breaking up the monotony of text and tables.

    Affinity Publisher

What a great product. While Adobe may be the "leader" I feel like they have taken advantage of the world in their pricing. Like any software, it hurts a bit to get started, but now I am many pages deep into Affinity Publisher I am loving it. I also have Affinity Photo as my image...

Creating a new TTRPG Player's Manual

one artist? wow, I have 10 working right now, to make sure I can finish this year (I'm doing a monster manual too). Took me quite a bit of time to find the artists who are the best bang for your buck since they are massively different prices there. Of course the perfect ones quickly get...

Creating a new TTRPG Player's Manual

I mean you can do it super cheap with public domain art, or you can spend $10-20k on art depending on how many pages and the quality of the art. Editor on the cheap maybe $1500 on a fiverr. Likely impossible to find an available ttrpg editor. The point of the kickstarter is to raise the...

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

I'm creating it more for my legacy to give some joy in the world, cause D&D was a huge impact and joy in my life when i was 11, and then in college. I'm thinking suppose users only buy 100 books, in that case its irrelevant if it is free or $2 or $5. But lets say, in the unlikely event its...

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

Yeah its new, but its a very specific niche, that will appeal to some but of no interest to many. How many is some, idk. But I would have loved it as a kid, but ttrpgs genre is still pretty small compared to video games, so small of small, maybe its 1000, 10k, 100k, idk, I hope to finish by...

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

Great point, I'll take a look at that, maybe the simplest thing is to split it into two books, like a Players Handbook and a DMG with the DMG containing all the monsters. That way players don't need to pay for a lot of pages they don't need per se. Nice thanks!

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

Well thats not the point of the thread, and they are good questions, lets just say I know its new and exciting and there is nothing like it, but I am a little biased :) Whether there will be broad appeal, whether I can market it wide enough, that is a different question that will remain to be...

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

If enough people enjoy something, I'm ok with losing money. But if it blew up and you gave away everything for free it would be a little sad lol.

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

I thought about that. The tricky part is I think any time you evaluate a RPG, the nice art is a huge impact on your first impression. The other issue is the overhead of building two different PDFs, thats a lot of extra work. Maybe the way to go is to have core rules + sample bestiary + sample...

Splitting up your ttrpg into free vs $, pdf vs hardcover

So lets say you were creating your own mazes and monsters TTRPG. You don't have a large internet following so kickstarter not an option and while you can do some marketing a lot is going to be dependent on word of mouth. Your goals are #1 get the rules into as many peoples hands as possible...
