Do you have a favorite underground monstrous race? not dnd

Probably gonna stay away from Lovecraft, I've never read it but seems everyone else has and perhaps too saturated. The Dero, I loved those in AD&D, I didn't realize they predated AD&D, that sounds like a great one, gonna dig into that, thanks!

Do you have a favorite underground monstrous race? not dnd

I need something more fantasy like, but I love that name, I may steal a version of that.

Do you have a favorite underground monstrous race? not dnd

Do you have a mythical race of creatures that live underground, could be humanoid, but monstrous is fine if they are industrious or have some variety of community (soldiers, mages, priests). Evil is ideal but if it is something I repurpose as aggressive/dangerous, be great. I can't use any DnD...

    Alternative ability check mechanic?

I like it, rolling d20 for everything isn't always great, in 5e it was very confusing understanding saving throws vs skill checks. Your system is pretty fun, I might use thanks!

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Well apart from desecrating a corpse, 1e it said the act of animating dead was "not a good one" and good clerics should consider carefully. The spell component included a piece of human flesh. So yeah.

    Alternative ability check mechanic?

This is not related 5e. Lets say I want to make a skill in check in Strength. I have a 14 out of the usual 3-18 starting values. But I don't want to have a small plus, I want to use the full 14 value because the difference between a 14 and a 9 strength is huge. Rolling under your stat seems...

Shadow of the Demon Lord - your analysis?

Can you explain what issues came up after 10-12 sessions, class imbalance or too strong for monsters or what?

How should "lore" be handled, dnd rules with a setting?

So when you say 5e are you referring to anything in the core books or you talking about the adventurers they published and the people, places, that it referred to? Since 5e is supposed to be pretty generic right? Do you think the 13th age had sufficient "lore" in its core book, or do you think...

How should "lore" be handled, dnd rules with a setting?

Reading the above article I kind of get the issues described. But I'm not really following the big picture of what you need to do with lore per se. So say FR never existed and no campaign existing, and you were tasked with organizing and creating a strategy for a setting that goes with your...

Dragonlance DRAGONLANCE LIVES! Unearthed Arcana Explores Heroes of Krynn!

I think you would only do it if you read the books, its those characters that made the setting iconic. Raistlin (evil wizard in a good party) was the driving beauty of dragonlance for me. I know we did a few dragonlance modules integrated into the campaign but I have no memory of how we did it...

    D&D 5E (2014) DnD5e podcasts for dungeonmasters...

Not 5e specific. Its not really a rules specific podcast. What they do is the only review modules that they have run, and then they break it down into components, theme, art, playability, etc dig into with analysis that is almost like a "publishers or editors" analysis. They don't hold back...

    D&D 5E (2014) DnD5e podcasts for dungeonmasters...

Fear of a Black Dragon is the best podcast for people who write modules, period, it has the highest quality content.

Shadow of the Demon Lord - your analysis?

If you need to roll a 15, there is a 30% chance of success if you have one boon its a 47% chance of success. but if you have three boons you only have a 55% chance of success Do you think if you have three boons, its not really adding enough compared to one boon?

AD&D 2E 2e Fighter vs Fighter/Thief vs Thief Play Balance

If they are a different race or alignment you could. But as a DM you generally played with friends in the 2e days and you knew who was going to pick each items. A fighter/thief is lower levels than a thief, you could also at a level requirement.

AD&D 2E 2e Fighter vs Fighter/Thief vs Thief Play Balance

Yeah but when we played 2e there was no need to give a thief anything at low levels, they were just cool, thats why people picked them, not because of their combat ability, that was up to the fighters to front line. The thief was sneaking around backstabbing people or maybe looking for treasure...
