D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

IRL, if a building is on fire and someone is inside I would break a window if if the door was locked and I didn't have the key. If the building is on fire stealth and damage to the building by me is a non-issue. What this has to do with the discussion at hand I do not know.

Sure unless you want to use the physical book and not use DDB. The physical book as a creative reference tool is subpar at best the way it is organized.

They definitely have the feel of a book being made out of a layout for digital content rather than being designed as a physical reference book l.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else surprised they didn't do a Forgotten Realms Feats, Spells, and Circle Casting UA?

They're more of a propaganda machine than a forum the way they are moderated.

UaA, surveys, heck even the forums on DDB are either pushing an agenda, or oblivious to user wants. Heck, it is like they are actively trying to kill the game. Flooding DDB with 3rd party content while ignoring the flaws on the site is insane. It is shameful for the flagship site of D&D to...

Surprised, no Should they have, yes Wizbro doesn't seem intrested in feedback even when they ask for it.

D&D General You can now turn 2024 Rules off in D&D Beyond

It was likely 2018-2022, wizbro bought DDB in 2022, and things went down hill from there as far as anything that wasn't going to make money getting done. It seems they are looking at things that are chasing customers away now.

D&D General You can now turn 2024 Rules off in D&D Beyond

I saw this too, shame it took them so long, I have written DDB off this is just one of the many reasons I left the platform. Oddly after quitting DDB I have more fun and more players in my groups.

That is not what the fallacy is, the fallacy is about a perceived authority, not an actual authority. What you are describing are actual authorities, not perceived authorities.

Exactly, the DM, and players agree on the game they are going to play ideally before the game starts. Less than ideal, but perfectly acceptable and far more common is to work through the incompatible play and arrive at a great game in spite of play style incompatibilities. Communication is...

I identify it as I stated, it is an attempt to protect the players from themselves, especially when they miss the cues that say your choice of combat, or diving into lava et al is an inescapable death sentence in this particular interaction.

There is a reason the phrase "Are you SURE you want to do that?" is a mantra in D&D. DM control is as much about saving players from themselves as it is anything else. Few DM'S relish a TPK, but players try to off themselves with surprising regularity.

Haggling is still very much used in modern society, it has just taken the form of coupons, app discounts, member discounts, employment discounts et al. The haggle is knowing what is available and asking for it.

D&D General How to DM, best resource

It is available as on Kindle and audible, I have it in all 3 formats. I "read" it via audible, and use the book and e book for reference. Also not all 11 year old are the same, young people have time and drive so if they are interested in a subject the more "advanced" information is better...

D&D General How to DM, best resource

I got a lot out of these books when I started DMing more than the odd one shot the last couple of years, friends getting into DMing have found the useful as well. "The Lazy DM's" series of books by Michael Shea. "The Monsters Know What They're Doing" series by Keith Ammann. "So You Want To...
