Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

I can tell you right now that the comparison to 4e is superficial at best, and highly misleading. The math between pf1e and pf2e is really comparable. Where things truly separate is the 4-degrees of success in combat. in 3.5e/pf1, getting a critical hit relied solely on your equipment and...

Pathfinder 2E Actual AP Play Experience

Sounds more like you're burnt out on the adventure path philosophy instead of the system. I don't blame you- I'm in the same boat. Like the system well enough, but APs are really not working well for me.

    Low Fantasy - Best Systems?

That’s more a question of story scope than anything else, really. Conan stories would usually fit into a single session of an rpg campaign. Even though some games are designed specifically for that style of play (SotDL, for example, which I am also a really big fan of), you can easily pull...

    Low Fantasy - Best Systems?

I’m always amused when someone mentions Conan as being low fantasy. In fewer pages than a single LotR book he meets two dragons, at least three demons, a sorcerer that makes a dragon run the other way and a couple of what would be considered liches and a vampire queen. He also manages to kill...

    Pathfinder 2E Rate Pathfinder 2E

2e chose to go the path of balancing the math of the game for gameplay situations, the same move that 4e went for (and the same move that angered a whole lot of 3e players, I have to add). In theory, it’s a bit absurd to think that a wizard has the same attack bonus with a dagger at 11th level...

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e

The Improve-by-level math has been present in all versions of D&D- PF2 just standardized it and applied it across the board. Skill system- the new system is very much like the old system. In fact, you can makes a case that the old skill system is the math upon which the entire new system in...

Pathfinder 2E Low-level Wizards in PF2 - are they still underpowered?

I mean... you can say exactly that about all sorts of spells in all editions. Is slow a trap option? This is just the latest nerf in a long line of nerfs to sleep. First it went from no saves for anything under 4+4 HD and no effect to anything higher to saves for everyone and no higher than...

Pathfinder 2E Low-level Wizards in PF2 - are they still underpowered?

Definitely not well laid out in this case. Made a mistake, btw- it’s actually 7th, and listed under “Weapon Specialization”: “you gain your instinct’s specialization ability.”

Pathfinder 2E Low-level Wizards in PF2 - are they still underpowered?

They do indeed, apologies for the error. That said, fury barbarians do not get the +6 bonus until 6th level, when they receive their specialization. Dragon barbarians do get a +4 bonus at 1st, but they miss out on that nice physical weapon resistance. Your point remains mostly valid, though...

Pathfinder 2E Low-level Wizards in PF2 - are they still underpowered?

Cantrips don’t, though, and Merric referred to casting one cantrip a turn. Maybe he was talking in a different context, but using two electrical arcs followed by a ray of frost doesn’t sound very weak considering none of the spells suffer a multiple attack penalty.

Pathfinder 2E Low-level Wizards in PF2 - are they still underpowered?

You’re limited to one spell a turn? Clearly I haven’t read the book closely enough.

Pathfinder 2E Complexity vs. Depth -- A Look Inside Pathfinder 2nd Edition

Oh definitely no- static bonuses apply to every attack (at least from what I'm understanding- I've had it in my hand for about 48 hours :)). I meant that wielding a 2h weapon no longer jacks up static bonuses like it did in 1e, where you'd get a 50% bonus to strength and power attack damage...
