Level Up (A5E) Injury and Death

For a heroic game, I would prefer in fact a reverse death spiral. In the absence of desire to do too much game development there could be something like all party members get advantage on their next roll when they see a party member go down. I think this would give a bit of a "last ditch"...

Level Up (A5E) Injury and Death

I don't mind the d&d approach as either fine or down. I don't find it entirely problematic as I imagine it to be the effect of adrenaline on the PC. If I were to do an injury system then, I'd be tempted to not have it take effect until the combat is finished and the adrenaline wears off.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e with PF2 Elements

So many 5e systems are built into it. You could determine moves, bonus actions and actions just as single actions in the 3 action PF2 system, but then you have to determine if you are going to create multi attack penalties, how spells interact, how certain class features interact such as action...

    D&D 5E (2014) (Tasha's) Decoupling racial abilities--cautionary tale

I could go either way on bonuses, but I know that's going to be a big part of it. I'm also hoping for an ancestry and culture split. I think the mix just could allow so many more interesting story combinations. I'd like to play a human raised by dwarves, an elf raised in a half orc camp, etc...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e with PF2 Elements

The only thing I would like to try porting over is the 3 action economy, but that would be a really fundamental rewrite of some core rules and I don't want to put in that effort!

Level Up (A5E) Removing medium armor and adding strength to all armors as minimum ratings.

Can do. I just used the 5e standard grouping. And correct it doesn't enhance strength as a stat directly. However, by reducing the dex effect on defense it requires having decent strength for heavy armors if you want a good AC. This places the dex melee fighter in the range of dynamic...

Level Up (A5E) Should AD&D5E remove simple/martial weapon category as exotic weapons were removed from 5E?

With axes and hammers. Logic is that due to their weight distribution and striking style there should be similarities. You could definately split out bows, crossbows and slings, but that might be too granular.

Will there be LevelUp sprinkles as a stretch goal?

Level Up (A5E) Removing medium armor and adding strength to all armors as minimum ratings.

Hmm I disagree entirely that 5e is a mess, but to each their own. If I wanted to create differentiation between armor types, and old school AC by damage type might be interesting. Some armors might be better at absorbing bludgeoning vs slashing vs piercing damage. There's other options of...

Level Up (A5E) Strength vs Dexterity imbalance cannot be solved without addressing the Melee vs Ranged Imbalance.

Honestly I'm not really engaging in the conversation with them any more. I think getting into the proficiency in 5e vs real life skills is a well worn argument here and moves away from the intention of the post, so I'm done following that line. It's fine if people have different points of view...

Level Up (A5E) Removing medium armor and adding strength to all armors as minimum ratings.

A while ago I posted an alternate version of Armor with fixed ACs which was something like the below: Light Armor Name Armor Class (AC) Strength Stealth Weight Cost Padded 13 - Disadvantage 8 lb. 5 gp Leather 13 - - 10 lb. 10 gp Studded Leather 14 - - 13 lb. 45 gp Medium...

I don't mind the idea of more triggers for opportunity attacks and leaving it at one reaction per turn. This shouldn't slow the game down if it's kept in moderation.

Yeah that's the kind of idea I had in mind with a -1 per 10 feet. An experienced archer +4 proficiency with a +5 dex and archery fighting style +2 could hit an AC5 target at 160 feet with a -5 modifier (+4+5+2-16), so about 50% of the time.

Not at all, although you have your right to dislike it. As it is, archery fighting style gives a +2 to counter 20 feet of that. However it may be reasonable to have a short range component such as 30 feet as you've suggested. I would suggest instead that a person can forgo their move to gain...

Level Up (A5E) Should AD&D5E remove simple/martial weapon category as exotic weapons were removed from 5E?

I would take a different approach. I would have: Hammers, Clubs and Axes Swords Polearms Ranged Weapons Exotic Weapons Unarmed/Grappling And then give everyone proficiency with a dagger as a minimum.

Level Up (A5E) Strength vs Dexterity imbalance cannot be solved without addressing the Melee vs Ranged Imbalance.

I'd prefer to have cover grant disadvantage rather than the +2/+5 bonuses for half and 3/4 (which I think is too much of a fine distinction for 5e) and then have the sole modifier be for range. The idea that as a sharpshooter I can hit a target 300 feet away as well as 10 feet bothers me. IMO...

Hmm? Hand crossbow probably nothing. Pistol crossbows are quite easy to reload. But it depends on what you want to acheive. I'd put slings, hand crossbows and shirtbows without a requirement so anyone can use them

I'd probably just make a longbow have a STR minimum requirement, say STR13. Otherwise, a PC has to use a shortbow or a crossbow.

Level Up (A5E) Should AD&D5E remove simple/martial weapon category as exotic weapons were removed from 5E?

I'm a big fan of Shadow of the Demon Lords system, where weapons are gated by strength or dexterity. If you want to be a rapier wielding mage? You can be if you invest in the dex. A greatsword wielding rogue? Bump up your str and you're good to go.
