Last D&D Survey Results In! Plus What's Up With The Ranger?

I agree. With the outlander background in fifth edition, a lot of the flavor of the class has been absorbed. Archery and dual weapon fighting are no longer his alone to excel at. Even the oath of ancients within the paladin steals part of his thunder. His current build is not bad. The beast...

Last D&D Survey Results In! Plus What's Up With The Ranger?

I'm sick of hearing people say that if you don't like something, you can simply disallow it. I'm glad you can do it, but you become a killjoy when a player comes to you and wants to play the latest and greatest new race or class or option. He's spent good money on the newest supplement and he...

Here Come The PRESTIGE CLASSES! Plus Rune Magic!

"If you don't like it don't use it" is a cop out. If a player who is excited to play the newest official race or class or use a new official option can't because you told him no, the DM looks like a wet blanket. The player insists that his vampire pixie psion is perfectly legal and he doesn't...

Last D&D Survey Results In! Plus What's Up With The Ranger?

I agree. I would like to see more fluff. I am leery of crunch. It tends to break the system after awhile. I personally like the Forgotten Realms, but Perkins statement that they don't want to produce a book that sells less than 100,000 copies doesn't bode well for those who want to see Greyhawk...

Last D&D Survey Results In! Plus What's Up With The Ranger?

The larger the rule set, the more moving parts the game has. That is when things get broken. I'd rather WotC take their time and not create broken or overpowered options that leave the core game feeling underpowered and unplayable. In 3.5 if you weren't optimizing your character, you were...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Another New Ranger Variant

How did this make it too print? This entire article is half-baked. It should never of been given to the public even as a beta test. It doesn't fix the beast master. It is a broken bastard of a class that tries to meld the scout and the warden. Give the ranger expertise on survival and animal...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Another New Ranger Variant

I can't agree more. Two strong saves. Powerful one level dip. Poorly written or thought out new ability in ambuscade. I read it as a turn that restricts the action portion of that turn to hide or attack action. The combo with assassin is too powerful.

[UPDATED] Out of the Abyss Reviews Have Started Rolling In

I get that they want people to buy the books. I wonder how hard it would be to set up a web site and provide the handouts based on a random product key. Prove that you have the book ... what is the second word on page 97? ... what drow npc is named on page 247? ... etc.

    Who Makes WotC's Adventures?

As I've stated earlier, it doesn't bother me that these items are outsourced. I feel that WotC has done a relatively good job of managing it's IP so far. I am a fan of the slower release schedule and am glad that WotC closely coordinates with the people and companies that they have contracted...

    Who Makes WotC's Adventures?

... but if hiring another corporate entity to do these things is not outsourcing, what is? What in your mind constitutes outsourcing if not this.

Check Out This Sneak Peek At OUT OF THE ABYSS

I also like this new artwork. It's beautiful and alien and feels appropriate given her dominion over fungi.

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

Great tool. I'm so glad you've put all the energy and effort into this. It makes my games so much easier. I know it is just aesthetics but is there anyway we can put a space between Class 1 and Class 2 features for multi-class characters. I'd also like to see the passive in passive Perception...

    Who Makes WotC's Adventures?

I agree. I'm reassured that WotC was intricately involved with the company they hired to complete this project. I wish Crawford didn't feel the need to spin WotC's involvement. It doesn't really concern me who makes the product as long as it is quality, and I'm sure WotC's involvement and...

Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

While I would like to see something more comprehensive, I think WotC is wise to produce something of this scope. It does seem targeted at consumers who may be overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the Realms. I just hope Greenwood is involved and he gives us some glimpses into the wider Realms...

    Who Makes WotC's Adventures?

I would argue that this is a fair dividing line between freelancing and outsourcing. If WotC has to coordinate five individuals to create one product, it's freelancing and WotC can take credit for the content, but if another company whose business is to create RPG content is brought on board...

Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

... But wouldn't you want to see an Inner Sea book. Purple Knights belong in a book about Cormyr, Westgate, Sembia and the Dalelands.

Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

Purple Dragon Knight? That worries me. That really should not be in a book about the Sword Coast. Will we see Adventurer's Guides for the rest of the Realms? This feels like a trial balloon to convince Hasbro that there is a demand for these books. I think there will be a lot of stuff in this...
