RPG Freebies, Bundles, and Sales News (September 11, 2022)

Yeah, True 20 is very cool. I wish their Sanctuary/Black Company stuff was T20 and not D20.

    I've introduced my 5th ed group to AD&D 2E

It's still a problem for some people. Running encounters, I have had multiple players need a calculator to figure out their D20+mod to see what AC they hit.

    I've introduced my 5th ed group to AD&D 2E

Yeah, my first character was a single-class Halfling Thief named Purloin (I know, I know, I was young) because I didn't know any better. Every Thief after that was a MC Thief/MU or Thief/MU/Fighter or Thief/Illusionist. I don't think any of those games went high enough to bother about limits...

D&D 5E (2014) Should D&D be easier to learn? If so, how would you do it?

"Players play heroic characters..." Jane doesn't really know my players, or Jane, apparently.

    Pathfinder 2E Magic Archer

I would like to build a character whose major way of doing damage is through archery and using magic to buff. Is that viable? How would I do that. I'm new to PF but what first jumps to mind is a ranger multiclassed into Wizard with Magic Weapon and Haste but I'm sure there are better ways to do it.

    D&D 5E (2014) How to get a continuous advantage?

So is that an additional feature or does it replace one. If the former it seems too good to be true. My current rogue wouldn't always benefit as he attacks with Booming Blade but it would be nice option when moving away isn't practical.

    D&D 5E (2014) How to get a continuous advantage?

You're also getting some other pretty nice abilities along with sneak attack - expertise, cunning action.

Nope, Champions had a couple - Reality Storm is a crossover adventure with Silver Age Sentinels (Guardians of Order) and Autoduel Champions was Champs characters in the Car Wars universe.

    Pathfinder 2E Finesse damage

I was thinking more from the perspective of a dex-heavy bard for a melee option. OTOH, it's not hard to end up with 16 or 18 in everything by the end, but damage would suck early on. BTW, what is the d6 from Striking? Do you mean the magic item? Is it assumed you can get that, generallly? Where...

    Pathfinder 2E Finesse damage

What are all the ways to add dex to damage with finesse weapons? Just the Thief Rogue racket?

Which non-D&D fantasy RPG do you currently play?

IMO, the best supers game ever made is Mutants & Masterminds 3e.

What is your biggest RPG heartbreak?

You need more malleable players. I once ran 6 consecutive campaigns without repeating systems once. But then, they enjoy my games and none of them wanted to gm.

How Do You Feel About NPC Party Members (A Poll)

Unless, of course, there were only 10 or so goblins in the village. Yeah, I think the overwhelming factor in player approval is how they are played by the gm. I've had plenty of GMPCs with no complaints - I don't use them to overshadow or lead/direct. They are there as the subject of a quest, or...

Which non-D&D fantasy RPG do you currently play?

My experience exactly. Pre covid, I was running two games and playing in two others, mostly monthly. More recently I've been playing in an online DF game but when the gm needed a break I started up a zombie apocalypse game with the same group One of the main reasons GURPS is my system of choice...

How do you expect high level play to differ from low level play in a high fantasy RPG?

One of the reasons D&D et al is not my go to game system is that D&D at different levels is not the same genre. I prefer a game where I can decide the power level of campaign and, while there is still character growth, the game style is still recognizable - GURPS, primarily, but also BESM, M&M...
