    D&D 5E (2014) Goblinoids in D&D 5e: Their Origin, Story, and Tragedy (+)

What I like about origin stories is they can help worldbuilding. Maglubiyet doesn't exist in my current setting (and I couldn't care less about they) and goblins follow whatever belief they choose to (mostly cultural influence). So when I read an origin story, be it this article or a book lore...

    D&D 5E (2014) Gimme your best villain one-liner!

"Too bad for you, I don't kiss and tell..." Angel of Death, to the party's goliath in the end of her "revenge plot", when prompted about the reason they slaughtered her entire village. She's got her revenge (sorta), but couldn't find all the answers. The look in their faces (and their cussing)...

D&D 5E (2014) Should All Subclasses Be Gained at 1st Level?

All at level 3. It's not even that hard to justify it fluff-wise. Your level 1 sorcerer is not fully aware of their lineage yet. They know they have powers popping out, and only by adventuring they can really unlock the true. Your level 1 wizard is hardly a specialist by any measure anyway...

What game Could "Be" D&D, Culturally?

That makes sense. A Supers game allows for the "dramedy" CR is (best?) known for, btw. I can see it working. The MCU was everywhere and the hottest thing for a whole decade. Could have been the time of the Supers RPG.

    D&D 5E (2014) Making Every Class "Short Rest"-based?

At the current stage of D&D, I think a character should be able to do their regular main trick at least once per encounter, with some classes going Nova once per game session. IMHO, the warlock is basically the only reason the "short vs long rest" debate even exist. You can see that most...

Here Are The 10 Most Anticipated Tabletop RPGs of 2022

I think Free League can deliver a system and setting for near-future adventures that is less punk-y, because BladeRunner itself is less focused on that aspect of the cyberpunk genre. Yes, there is an oppressive social hierarchy and megacorps, but you don't rebel with neon lights, spiked leather...

Got it. Organic as in sprouting from the gameplay itself is how I ended up using "skill challenges" in my games, too. I always fell short when I tried to write pre-planned SC, mostly because, as you said, I ended up pushing the whole thing on the group, which felt, well, not organic (and here I...

I noticed you used the word organic. If you care to give us an example from the session as opposed to another you've seen that felt, well, not organic. I like the concept and often find myself in trouble when I try to create "skill challenges" for my personal games. So, seeing successful ones...

D&D General What are you prepping for your next D&D session? (+)

Starting a new arc for the campaign, Book 2: Exile. Last session: PCs fled a demiplane fortress using a balloon-ish flying eldritch machine. Next session: they crashed, hard, in the mountains. It's the fall of winter, they have to find shelter, food etc., and fix the balloon to get out of...
