D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

I remember a few tournaments where you had to roll 3d6 in order but otherwise no one did, Ofcourse we had more time to play there so occasionally we did side games with 3d6 in order and racial level limits just to play it that way. That was not our norm though,

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

YES! This is definitely a way D&D has changed over the decades. My DM style is always GAME master not STORY teller. I usually summarize dialogue, I have maybe three voices I can use for NPC's and thats only to convey mood. My players talk in game all the time with each other. With my...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Yes I consider creating undead directly tapping into the cosmology. Making a flesh golem is not good.

    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

So if I had my druthers... I would 100% make Sophia the FIrst from Disney jr a campaign setting for No THank You Evil. My daughter (sadly) doesnt watch it anymore because she's 8 but Sophia really is a great show to get young kids to think about fantasy. I already see how my daughter views the...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

At least in my game I have made it clear, Creating a flesh golem is an evil act. But Undead creation is tapping into the cosmological alignment force of evil.

    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

That Halfling is probably one of my least favorite art depictions in D&D History. I really don't like it.

That was nearly all of Elmore's art though. From 1st and 2nd edition. Not all of it but much of it. Very light situations. Actually Elmore's art seemed to have calm with danger:

    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

I am very tolerant of many styles. I know im the minority but the art in say the 5e D&D Players handbook are people I can recognize. I mean a halfling looks like GOvernor Chris Christie. It points to the skill of the artists but I actually don't like that. Even Elmore art and Easly art were...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

No its not. Its actually quite easy to see why making undead is an evil act. So I will 100% amend that Necromancy is not evil. WHo cares if its life drain vs fireball. I've actually never argues necromancy itself was evil even if I have mentioned disease conditions and such here. But if you...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Does our real world have a cosmic alignment game construct? If it did the Geneva convention would call it evil. Why do I talk about disease because people using disease as a weapon IS in fact considered evil and we don't even have an alignment game construct. By saying sneezing is evil...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

I'll amend that necromancy involving the creation of undead is always evil
