D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

EDIT: Also the shackles of Hasbro really screw this up. One reason that Greyhawk is so awesome in the fan community is that Roger Moore is directly involved. It would be great if WOTC could hire Troy Denning free lance like they do Ed Greenwood to work on the setting. At the Planescape time...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

No they didn't but they were there for it. The fans know the material inside and out. I would trust them WAY more than the new team at WOTC now that Perkins is gone. The new creators likely wouldn't have experienced it through play. The fans would have, and also be familiar with what was...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Moving the Forgotten Realms forward 100 years likely contributed to a whole edition being ill received. Retconning would really change the world to the point that there is little reason to do it.

Kyle Brink did NOTHING but say stupid stuff about the game itself and its player base. But also the people that don't work at WOTC anymore are the people that KNEW Darksun.

There is no way WOTC would do Dark Sun correctly. I would rather Darksun be remembered as it was than make the Kinder Gentler Darksun for a new audience. I liked Planescape for the most part, but Spelljammer was awful. I like Darksun alot. I don't think the new creators would know what to do...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

With Perkins Leaving I'm not sure the institutional knowledge is there to do Darksun well. They should work on a new setting because the institutional knowledge has left D&D. Greyhawk was done reasonably well in the DMG but there were people that knew it well working on it. Fans would...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

What about the psionic subclasses that took up option space in phb24? I like psionics but it seems they had a system in place. They left out the artificer because they knew it would be better in the expansion with more treatment. I found the psionic subclasses underwhelming and now wish they...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

Goodman will reap what he sows here. This seems strategically bad given the current attitude of the RPG market. Nobody is obliged to buy from him. This will inform customers future purchases. He probably didn't realize this was going to land him in a possible quagmire of doom. If he gets...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

The accusations like that sound like performative outrage. None of this means Goodman is bad. His crime is bad PR. He could have handled this better.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

I meant he would have been fine if he could just resist opening his mouth. No the Farmers Market people should not have swallowed it. Come to think of it I Dont think he was banned from the Farmers Market. People just refused to buy from him.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

As a company revealing your politics is extraordinarily stupid in this day and age. Its much better to just shut up, make money, and leave the politics out of it. When you mention politics you'll always lose part of the customer base, and unless your business relies on a political position its...

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

All I can say is the creatives that I have sat in conventions with and talked to claim he was. When We Were Wizards the designers that worked for him claim he was. I am not necessarily qualified to make that assessment. I liked Gord the Rogue so that is all subjective.

Ofcourse its not that important. But it is relevant on a forum for gaming. Nothing on this forum is "that important'. And YES, Lorraine Williams did stab him in the back. And she had HELP to keep her plans secret.

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

I've read about every book on the Business History of D&D with the exception of When we were wizards. But I listened to the Podcast. Even the designers and people with business sense like Mike Carr said Gary was an awful manager. A creative genius yes, but he was an awful business manager...

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

One thing that stuck out to me in Episode 13, funny because I am running the old Temple of Elemental Evil right now, is that Gary was expecting 10% Royalty on Temple of Elemental Evil, and he only wrote the FIRST part of it. Frank Mentzer wrote the rest according to the podcast. Frank Mentzer...
