    Revised Ranger update

I'm expecting this is exactly what they are going to clarify with an errata change, rather than a complete redesign of the class/subclass. They're probably going to clarify that you can give your beast an order with an action, and then it will continue to do that every round until otherwise...

    Revised Ranger update

Roll20 and AL are not mutually exclusive, though. I DM 2 separate games using AL rules via Roll20, we chose the AL rules for a variety of reasons including a somewhat-inconsistent roster from week to week and people wanted characters they could take to conventions etc. I'd be shocked if I was...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

The DMG doesn't actually suggest 6-8 encounters per day. It simply says that an average party is going to have run dry of all resources if they do that many encounters: "Assuming typical adventuring conditions and average luck, most adventuring parties can handle about six to eight medium or...

Darkvision: Don't forget the Disadvantage & limitations!

This is one of the reasons I'm really happy we've transitioned from a battle map and miniatures to Roll20 for our games (though the end goal is a screen on the table with a Roll20 map and miniatures on top of their respective tokens). The dynamic lighting features of Roll20 make it really easy...

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Battle On: The Fighter Guide

An opportunity attack uses your reaction: Riposte is another way to get an attack with your reaction. There can be many situations where the mere threat of a Sentinel-based opportunity attack will cause the enemy to not move away, and so having other ways of getting those extra reaction...

    Shield master on twitter

What limitation are you talking about exactly? The one that says if you cast a bonus action spell (e.g. Hunter's Mark, Hex, Misty Step) then you can only cast a cantrip as your regular action, or something else?

    Shield master on twitter

Yes, based on the clarification w.r.t. bonus actions with triggers, the TWF bonus action attack must come after the Attack action is done (which means all attacks from Extra Attack) since the trigger is "when you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you're holding in...

    Shield master on twitter

Right I saw that, and JC even quoted the tweet I listed above in the discussion that followed that one: https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/995320128026755073 It's pretty clear to me that JC was talking about bonus actions (or reactions) with explicit triggers only, not bonus actions...

    Shield master on twitter

The Shield Master tweet was specifically talking about bonus actions with triggers. Misty Step has no trigger, and thus you can cast it whenever you want. JC even explicitly tweeted about this: https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/995134313841676288 The clarification was only for "if...

Techies! Using DND Beyond on Tablets? Thoughts?

I bought the Legendary Bundle as soon as D&D Beyond was launched, and share all the content via the Master Tier subscription. Everyone at our table uses it, we have 3 people (including myself, our DM and one other player) on laptops and the other 2 use tablets (one iPad and one Samsung). I use...

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Pacts, Patrons, and Power, a Warlock guide

mellored, you mention Devil's Sight in the Hunger of Hadar rating. Jeremy Crawford has clarified that Devil's Sight does not work with HoH: https://www.sageadvice.eu/2016/04/09/can-a-warlock-with-devils-sight-see-within-hunger-of-hadar/ Not sure if that changes the spell's rating at all, but...

D&D 5E (2014) Best Fighting Style+Weapon+Feats for Paladin (Oath of Vengeance)

I feel like the guide does a good job of discussing which magic items are good: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?474035-GUIDE-My-Word-Is-My-Sword-The-Paladin-Guide/page2&p=6779091&viewfull=1#post6779091 It basically boils down to a Holy Avenger if you can get it, otherwise magic...

D&D 5E (2014) Best Fighting Style+Weapon+Feats for Paladin (Oath of Vengeance)

Sure, but this is all discussed in great detail in Gladius Legius' fantastic Paladin guide. You're giving up any kind of actual ability score increase, which means you'll be stuck with a STR of 16 for the entire game. While the Polearm build is the highest DPR available for a Paladin, it...

D&D 5E (2014) Best Fighting Style+Weapon+Feats for Paladin (Oath of Vengeance)

You've been asking about this on several different forums and in several different threads. I think we've given you a pretty solid idea of what you can do with a level 10 Paladin, so at some point you'll just have to decide what your preference is. Personally, I wouldn't do a Polearm build...

    D&D 5E (2014) Build Help > Paladin Feats/ASIs & Race

If you're stopping around level 10, then it's really hard to beat a Variant Human (going from 2 to 3 ASIs is huge). I'd probably recommend Resilient (Con) over Sentinel though, as that will allow you to more reliably use Haste starting at level 9. The Paladin guide's polearm build has Str/Cha...

D&D 5E (2014) Best Fighting Style+Weapon+Feats for Paladin (Oath of Vengeance)

My favourite is still sword and board with Dueling fighting style and Shield Master at level 1. You can bonus action shove people prone before your attack(s), basically granting near-permanent advantage on your attacks. I'll typically combine Hunter's Mark with Vow of Enmity since you don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) XGTE Errata

Yeah I think the demand was so high that they did the second printing almost immediately, and it might take another round or two for all the errors to be corrected.

What about blindsight though? Heavily obscured means blinded, and blindsight means immune to blindness (i.e. doesn't rely on sight to "see" things).
