    D&D 5E (2014) Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Yes, and no. Any character that simply cannot be killed is o/p imho. Advantages are fine and dandy. I do not believe the intent of this ability was to annex the ability of doing someting stupid. Case in point: I wild shape, my LAST wildshape of a given day, into a Chimpanzee, and as a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Well if there's a couple things I've learned after reading through this discussion. I have to determine if I am going to either A) House Rule - severely tweak wild shape, or B) House rule - remove disintegrate from my game.

    HMS Victorius

I have been using the Plateau of Eternity from the Arduin Grimiore, so my group has been to several different worlds, planes and time periods. They no longer bat an eye at anything.

    HMS Victorius

I have long allowed firearms, in various type in all of my campaigns. I only asked the question, as there seemed to be some issue with gunpowder functionaing at all.

    HMS Victorius

So. Would Gunpowder even fire on Greyhawk? 4th and 5th give us rules for basic/simple firearms, and do nothing to limit their "invention" on any world/anywhere other than the DMs preference. Earlier versions of the game, and articles in Dragon magazine and several websites like this one...

    D&D 5E (2014) Disintegrate Vs. Druid

"Wild shape", regardless of the fine print, was never intended to mean "Wild Shape, and Oh, I'm Immortal". You get disintegrated, and regardless of what form you are in, you are dead. Dust. Too bad, so sad. IF, in your opinion this makes the Disintegrate spell too powerful for your game...

    Is there a Command skill

Something in one of the various knight/paladin/fighter plethora of prestige classes is rumbling around in my mind... about being a commander or leader. And of course there's the ol' catch all: Charisma!

    D&D 3.x DM Advice [3.5] : Review my Half-Erinyes Template

My two main concerns are just how tough of a monster are you going to have to throw at this party to make it a challenge for them? And is this person going to be just this, or this with a character class and all of the levels, abilities, spells, skills, feats that come with whatever class/level...

    Skill at Role-Playing

Not neccesarily.... even early cultures had their legends about Vampires. What's to say there weren't scary stories told around the campfire when they were young? My intimation was that at times we (and I admit to complete guilt here, personally) use knowledge in our head, that wouldn't...

    Serfdom in Greyhawk

I hope there isn't any doubt just what a serf was... a different - exact - definition, but a slave nonetheless. The property of their Lord, with only thoise rights an privileges they deign to grant them.

    D&D 3.x DM Advice [3.5] : Review my Half-Erinyes Template

Hmmmm. Disclaimer time: I have been accused many times (here on these boards and in person by fellow DMs players) of creating templates/classes/archtypes/prestige classes that are simply too powerful. This said, is everyone else going to have character on par with this one as far as raw...

Selfish playstyles and other newer issues with the game

The lesser of two evils? When I enforce the phone ban they get very bored very fast. The gaming equivelent of are we there yet? All kinds of out of game cross-talk ensues (and when it gets to the Marvel cinematic universe, I invariably get sucked in). I have been working on my double...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Blade Priest, a 5E Cleric Archtype

Agreed, way overpowered.... will tweak t/y for inputs!

    D&D 5E (2014) Spelljamming in 5e

When our gaming group took the plunge and committed, creating a group of brand new 5e characters and starting our first game one of the things we did was shatter the spaceways as we knew them. The crystal spheres have disintegrated, the flows (wormholes) became unstable and collapsed and all...

Selfish playstyles and other newer issues with the game

I have two offspring - can't really call them children anymore, as one is 24 and is the manager at a game stop and the other is 21 and a grad student - ahem, they both play DnD with my group from time to time. I have definately noticed a distinct difference between the younger players and the...

    DMing large (10+) groups

Over the years the magic number for us has settled on one DM and 4-5 players. Anything less, and there's not enough ideas - and usually not enough player characters. Anything more and it almost immediately gets bogged down. A few years back we had a steady group of eight players and a buddy...

    D&D 5E (2014) FINALS! (1) Fighter v. (1) Wizard

It would boil down to he who goes first. All the fighter would have to do is grapple. Game over.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

The only change this has meant for our group was whenever anything sexually siggestive at all, homo/hetero/bi/etc, is that one, or another of us quietly, and very seriously say "5e compliant" and move on. One of our longest term players, who's been gaming with us since - e-gads - 1985ish? Came...

    How meta is too meta?

The most successful game I ever ran that had someone mundane find themselves in DnD was years back when a buddy of mine, who was a HUGE WWF (Not WWE mind you) fan created The Ultimate Warrior. He spend hours coming up with how the various wrestling moves could be converted to actual...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Blade Priest, a 5E Cleric Archtype

Something to give your Cleric some teeth... The Blade Priest Only Clerics of (Enter God Here) may choose this Archtype. Once you become a Blade Priest you may never choose another class, nor Gestalt or multiclass. You become a hero of the god and his religion; the Guardianship...
