    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Poukai

Thanks for the tip! :) My dinky little town in the middle of PA has been swallowed whole by Walmart so it's pretty much the only place to get groceries around here, but I've been to GE during weekend visits to my friends in Pittsburgh, and I'm also pretty sure we passed at least one last night...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Poukai

Very cool! Before I started reading I was thinking "I wonder how this fits in with the Roc?" and then I read on to see that you purposefully set it as an intermediary between that and the Giant Eagle. Very nice! (After typing out "Giant Eagle" I just got an image in my head of the birds...

D&D 3.x Jonathan Tweet: Third Edition and Per-Day Spells

We always did (and still do) when playing 1st Edition campaigns. After a certain point the focus of demihuman adventuring shifted to seeking ways to acquire more Wishes in order to increase their ability scores, and the other PCs (and players) understood the situation and would allow us...

D&D 3.x Jonathan Tweet: Third Edition and Per-Day Spells

It's been this way forever. Back in 1st Edition the Temple of Elemental Evil module had guidelines for how the monsters and inhabitants of the Temple would react to PC intrusion and how many new recruits they would attract over periods of time. The idea that old D&D dungeons were just static...

D&D 5E (2014) Official D&D Greek-Themed 'Mythic Odysseys of Theros' Setting Coming In May

Clash of the Titans setting sounds good to me.

D&D 3.x Jonathan Tweet: Third Edition and Per-Day Spells

I'm afraid I prefer simulation of genre to nebulous ideas of "balance." Balance is basically a fantasy that is never consistent between groups or campaigns anyway. The most mechanically powerful character in a party can feel useless if the DM focuses on another PC.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Allan Quatermain

Looks good to me! Very cool.

WotC 7 Digital D&D Games In Development

And that's a very delicate balancing act, trying to expand to a larger audience while battling the inherent truth that doing so will dilute the unique qualities that make it beloved to the core fans. The narrower the audience the deeper a thing can be, and making it more palatable to a wider...

D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: The Invisible Man

I didn't hate the movie like some did, but the comics are so different. It was fun for what it was.

D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: The Invisible Man

    It's a common mistake, but yeah. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: The Invisible Man

Nice. And I'm really looking forward to Allan Quatermain! (Note: Quater, nor Quarter, and 2 "L"s.) ;) I'm a big LXG fan (the comics, not the movie.)

TSR BURMANIA! Part 2: "Keep on Going!"

Oh man, that was a great story! Thank you so much, Rob! :) It sort of reminds me of my the campaign I played with my brother played back in the mid to late '90s. He was only 14 and was starting his first campaign, so one night after walking to the grocery store and discussing the...

D&D General Companies Cut Ties With Judges Guild After Owner's Racist Posts

I just can't take these guys seriously anymore, can you? Those who keep making contrarian and obfuscatory arguments like this because they apparently don't think anyone should suffer any consequences for anything they say, no matter how monstrous their ideas are or how much the offend and hurt...

D&D General Companies Cut Ties With Judges Guild After Owner's Racist Posts

While it is possible that some kind of seeds may be planted in their minds by an opposing argument that could potentially bloom into an epiphany that they are mistaken, every genuine believer in conspiracy theories whom I have ever known of has resisted any and all attempts to dissuade them...

D&D General Companies Cut Ties With Judges Guild After Owner's Racist Posts

Really? I have to say that I've never heard of anyone who seriously believed in conspiracy theories to have ever abandoned it, especially not through argument with others. Argument just makes them get more entrenched.

D&D General Companies Cut Ties With Judges Guild After Owner's Racist Posts

That's a wonderful sentiment, and an idea that a lot of people cling to... but the cold hard reality is that the vast, vast majority of the time it just doesn't work that way. Like 99.9% of the time. In real life most people by far don't change their opinions very much after they reach...

Maybe "I can sympathize" would be better?

I think it was meant as commiseration, not belittling your problems.

D&D General Companies Cut Ties With Judges Guild After Owner's Racist Posts

People like that have seriously convinced themselves "everyone really believes this deep down but is just afraid to say it," and that they are being "brave" by speaking it out loud; many are even deluded enough to believe they will get applause for "finally saying what everyone is really...
