    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Captain Nemo

I could see Ahab as Chaotic Neutral and some kind of Ranger with Beasts as his Favored Enemy, but spells present a dilemma. Maybe just 1 level in Ranger.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Captain Nemo

Looks great to me. Don't worry about the number of languages; any character can learn as many languages and tools as they want given time and money. There's no limit.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana - Subclasses 2 [UPDATED]

"You can’t take something off the Internet! It’s like taking pee out of a swimming pool... once it's in there, it's in there." -Joe Garrelli

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana - Subclasses 2 [UPDATED]

For some reason that link keeps taking me to the earlier Subclasses Part 1 UA article. And when I go to the WotC website it only Part 1 listed as the latest article, with Part 2 nowhere to be found. Was it removed just now for some reason?

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Hercules

Makes sense: it was all about marketing! :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Hercules

Wasn't it the Romans who created the phrase "Beware Greeks bearing gifts?" Yeah, the Greeks admired cleverness and guile, while the Romans dismissed sneakiness as being "unmanly." Maybe Hercules could have the stated Int and Wis, while Heracles would have 3 higher in both scores?

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Hercules

I actually just looked up Heracles and Pankration, and apparently he used Pankration against the Nemean Lion. So that Unarmed Fighting Style is looking even better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Hercules

Very cool! I have always preferred calling him by the original Heracles rather than the Roman "Hercules," because "Herc" obscures the fact that he was actually named after Hera in an attempt to appease her. Didn't work. (It really makes me wonder how Heracles mutated into Hercules in the...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Four New Subclasses

Oh there are quite a few of the Unearthed Arcana articles that I absolutely love; the article with the weapon mastery Feats is beloved by my brother and I, and we both use it heavily in our campaigns; we use the article with the Favored Soul for a special order of Sorcerer-Priests of the God of...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Four New Subclasses

Exactamundo. Nothing to complain about or even debate with this entry, just a good solid example of Unearthed Arcana. I wish more of them were this "boringly" good. :) I am already planning out a new order of mystical knights, comprised of Horizon Walker Rangers, Paladins of the Oath of the...

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

Yup; comic books, and Dr. Strange in particular, were apparently quite popular among the early TSR staff, as evienced by panels from Dr. Strange comics being used as covers for early D&D booklets. The psionics rules were apprently inspired in part by their use by Dr. Strange; Strange's psionic...

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

Yes, the psionics rules were right there from the PHB in 1st Edition AD&D, and as I recall from a thread on another 1E focused website one of the early AD&D writers stated that their inclusion was influenced by Dr. Strange comic books, which is just fascinating to me. Dr. Strange as a D&D...

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

Yeah I had read that, I was just wondering if anyone had any personal recollections of the term's early use, or could recall noticing that it had become more prevalent. :)

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

I can't agree with this; I cannot recall them ever actually using the word "teleport" nor "teleporter" in Star Trek; the teleportation device used in Star Trek has always been called a "Transporter" for as long as I can remember, from the original Star Trek to The Next Generation to Deep Space...

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

I think the degradation of commonly spoken English is self-evident by just listening/reading to how people spoke even a hundred years ago, with people commonly using more poetic words and more eloquent sentence structures. Today's common speech, in comparison, can almost come across as...

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

Oh, totally; the article I linked to at the beginning goes into some details about dweomer as well, and how it was used by Tolkien in Lord of the Rings, where he spells it "dwimmer" (the way it is supposed to be pronounced.) As I recall, Eowyn even called the Witch-King of Angmar a "Dwimmerlaik."
