    D&D 3.x Question about languages in d&d 1e through 3.5

Several books list what script is used for the written version of each language; IE Elvish, Sylvan, and Undercommon all being written using the Elvish script. That might be helpful for you to determine some kind of language development tree. The 5E PHB has a small list of that type, and the 3E...

TSR Rob Kuntz Recounts The Origins Of D&D

Really? My v3.5 core rulebooks all say "Based on the original Dungeons & Dragons game created by E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson" on the very first page, the very first words in the book after the D&D logo and the title of the book. And I know the 3E books listed them as well.

Perhaps he thought you were just doing an excellent job of portraying your character as harried and exhausted? ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: General George Washington

And D&D players can use Mike Myler's stats from this series to portray them! ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: General George Washington

It's an older piece of Internet lore, just get on YouTube and search for "George Washington Rap." You can identify the right video by the crude animation (the first video listed when I searched.). NSFW (humorous profanity.) It's a rap extolling the virtues of George Washington and listing the...

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: General George Washington

Ha! That's pretty cool. He should have abilities that let him throw a knife into Heaven and kill with a stare, though. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Nope, sorry, it did not. I just ran a Dark Sun game a few weeks ago. The Will and the Way, published in 1994, used the core Complete Psionics Handbook psionics rules that were used in the original boxed set. However, the Dark Sun Monstrous Manual expansion books that were published after the...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Just as an aside not related to anything here, Parmandur, but every time I see your name I can't help but be reminded of the old Dragon article A Plethora of Paladins that had 1st Edition Paladin-type classes for every Alignment. Including the Paramander, a True Neutral Paladin. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

At the risk of running afoul of the No Religion Rule (IE this isn't meant to be an insult to anyone, rather a playful comparison to show common ground) it is my firm belief that Theologians are just nerds/geeks of a different flavor. The Theologian's obsessive rule memorizing and quoting from...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

A Cambion would be a person with a Demon as a direct parent, while a Tiefling's Fiendish ancestor would be much further back. (Another Fun Fact: I always thought that Cambions were just something that Gary Gygax made up for D&D, like Drow. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Cambions...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Fun Fact: The name Tiefling is derived from Teufel, the German word for Devil (just imagine a person with a really heavy Scottish accent saying "Devil." "T/Dye-ful.") I liked the original idea of Tieflings because it reflects a very medieval magical way of thinking, that having Fiendish...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

As long as they are presented as being plenty rare (and potentially inciting torch and pitchfork wielding mobs of terrified human commoners) and a real big deal isn't made of them, then I would be OK with it. If they tried to make them out as being "just another race" then I would be pretty...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Just as long as they did something to mold Tieflings into more of the way the were originally, as unique with individual fiendish deformities derived from a lower planar ancestor rather than a uniform race of Devilmens, then I wouldn't have a problem with it. I could see a lot of Tieflings...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Well yes... that is certainly a concern of mine as well. But I would still very much like to see what they would do with it. Besides, just getting Oerth out there for all the new D&D players to see for possibly the first time would be worth it all by itself. Exposing all those newbies to Oerth...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Sounds cool; I hope it's well-done and the Eberron fans really like it. And I really hope this means they will eventually get around to releasing a well-done Greyhawk setting book as well! :) [EDIT] Wait, no psionics?! Well, that certainly puts a damper on my enthusiasm for this book. That...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Nope. I loved 1st Edition Pathfinder but 2E just looks really unappealing to me. D&D 5E has hit all the right spots for me, with just a tiny bit of tweaking. I do hope all the people going with PF2E enjoy it, though.
