Ironically I who am so down on it being the default google forward would LOVE a set of books on alternate takes. It would maybe give me some hope for the modularity they were shooting for back during next.

The problem is we are all working with too little info. Notice they almost never give numbers they make vague mention of “this did good this did bad” but then they also don’t talk much about their internal tests or the written responses. The few times they have give us a glimpse.

The thing is that some things we want won’t make it but something’s we really DONT want will get pulled too. It’s a weird balance. I give WoTC a hard time sometimes (I feel deserved) but I don’t envy trying to square this circle.

In 3.5 I played an exulted paliden that had (not a six shooter but) a magi tech gun and a feat for ranger smite. I walked into game half drunk in a leather trench coat as armor with a broken longsword as a knife and the two guns.

I actually think putting out half backed systems like that so we can all mess around with it and make it better is great. My fear is this 70% approval or scrap will take great ideas that need work and throw them away.
