I think it also is the spell that allows you to bottom out and split water to make a trench or path. Then let the water flood back in.

You are in a forum about a new edition/version/variation of the game. You have come to a thread that wants tot all about changes to the game that may or may not come to pass. The thread is about removing caster dependencies at high level. What would YOU like us to talk about then?!?

Especially on a forum about an update to fix the system.

Exactly. There is a guy in the main D&D area right now going back and forth about DMing for the first time, I’m sure he should just KNOW the flaws and work around them and if he doesn’t it’s his own fault. Right?

So again, the flaw in the system just shouldn’t be fixed

I can’t find a list of dr strange spells but the marvel fan wiki lists “spells we have seen cast” as just under 150. If I assume strange knows all that is more then a 20th level wizard who know 84 plus 5 cantrips Oops. Forgot a link. Spells and Phrases

To be honest a 20th level d&d wizard with no spells as treasure might know more spells then doctor strange has ever cast.

So if the system is the hurdle and you need to work around the hurdle it’s your fault of the hurdle gets in your way?!?

Again this seems like a warlock taking speak with animals at will and mage armor at will and jump at will and. Well you get the idea.

To give the fighter the most number of options. Should I go higher? I got half way with that. Maybe I’d get to a 5th level wizard if I used 20th level fighter. To be honest I think a mix of warlock with 4e spell book is the best bet. You get (more or less) 1 spell per level up to a max of...

Brieann and Kat was 100%. I don’t know holga. Xenia and Arya are a hard sell in 5e. Especially when any wizard of level 11+ can duplicate the gods of Xena and would put everything in ASoIaF to shame.

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I actually had worked on a campaign idea like that. Everyone would be a rouge arcane trickster or fighter eldritch knight (but not multi class both) picking any 2 schools of magic instead of the normal 2 listed. But spells would be 100% vancian prep per slot but most spells would be treasure...

Yeah this is why I am holding out hope that 6e will be strong 4e influence with some lesser 2e influence and just a smattering of 5e. Rebuilt from the ground up.

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

In the playtest I played a warlock/wizard (and we most likely will wrap it up Friday) and I had the ability to remove mummy rot It was a chance. All I knew going in was it was high level and “not orca and goblins”. So I picked pretty at random. Then game 1 multi players got hit by mummy rot...

    D&D 5E (2024) Longsword finesse when used 2H

Back in 2e there were bows (I don’t remember if it was core or splat add on) that gave a bonus to damage based on your Str but you couldn’t fire it with out that Str.

    So mighty composite long bows?

Or warlock. Both I think more balanced then wizard (still would need to increase non casters)
