    D&D 4E What Doesn't 4E Do Well?

Looks at the original post and thinks "good idea." Reads the past couple of pages and shakes head. Walks away from yet another derailed thread that started with such promise.

    New Realms = Old School

I've grown to like and enjoy the 4E version of the Forgotten Realms... except for the maps. They really are crap with a capital "k". The Loudwater section is a great little sandbox area but it would have been infinitely better with a map along the lines of the one for the Nentir Vale in the DMG...

Minions are immune to non-targeted effect damage? Is this right???

In all honesty... I haven't seen too many CustServ rulings that are correct. That's why my gut reaction on a questionable issue is to see if CustServ has issued a ruling and then take the opposite of that.

Dragon Articles - Summer of 09 v Winter of 10

I would like a mix of longer articles (and that Bahamut one is a great example of something that is now lacking) and some short class- or item-based articles. I am happy with short adventures or even single encounters or delves simply because I think WotC has done a terrible job with its...

Minions are immune to non-targeted effect damage? Is this right???

When I saw the thread title my first thought was to open the thread and type in a reply along the lines of, "I think you're misinterpreting what it means when it says that a minion does not take damage on a miss. But contact CustServ: if they agree with your interpretation then you know you are...

Have we seen MM3 cover yet?

Yeah I would love to see one of the Far Realms elder evils as the "cover monster". As long as they don't do any airbrushing.... ;)

Dungeon 170: Monument of the Ancients

Thanks, Matt. Perhaps I will post over at loremaster.org as I think that might be the only site on the internet that is positive about the 4E version of FR! ;)

Have we seen MM3 cover yet?

Lolth was announced as the cover last year but this is the first time I have seen it. Graz'zt is highly unlikely to get a guernsey as he was in Manual of the Planes, IIRC.

How many nipples does a shifter have ?

There is a related question that has yet to be considered. Does an obese shifter, with or without a beard, grow man-boobs? Of course, that then leads to me needing to know if said fatbeard shifter does grow man-boobs, how many man-boobs does he grow? Is it one for each nipple? I also want to...

Dungeon 170: Monument of the Ancients

Not yet. I'm still running a game in Akanul but my next campaign will be set in the Moonsea North beginning in Phlan. I can't wait to use the maps of both Phlan and the Moonsea North that came with your adventure! (My only complain about FR4E remains the "crappiest maps in the world" that appear...

How many nipples does a shifter have ?

It is an absolute fact that a shifter has more nipples than a dragonborn. Most of the time.

Disappointed in Dungeon, at least for adventures.

I do prefer the electronic format for a whole range of reasons (although I miss being able to read a physical copy at other times) but I just see the electronic version of Dungeon as an extension of WotC's inability to produce good adventures which started in 3E. Bruce Cordell wrote some of the...

    Are you a refluffer?

On this subject, I was re-reading the artificer class a couple of nights ago and I realise that with some reskinning, that it would make a perfect rune mage/runecaster/graven one/tattooed sorcerer. As in, all of its powers could be represented by runes and/or tattoos on the artificer's body. I...

    Questions about the Oathbound revival

Oathbound is a great campaign setting. I am pleased it's making a comeback. Good luck to the new publishers.

Campaign Standards: Slavery yea or nay?

Slavery is present in my games but always as an evil to be stopped. I have a passionate hatred for slavery after living in Asia for more than ten years and seeing the equivalent being practised today. ... or employees of large corporates with mortgages and credit cards to pay!

Stuff I want (From you 3pp People)

There are some really cool suggestions in this thread already. While I am duplicating some of those suggestions what I want is as follows: 1. Generic adventures. WotC has dropped the ball, IMO, with the adventures that they have published so there is room for more adventures in the market...

    Moldvay vs. Mentzer... FIGHT!

As much as I prefer the 3.xE and 4E rulesets, I sometimes think running B/X D&D with just those two sets would be perfect. I had a lot of fun with those two before "upgrading"(?) to AD&D1E.

Best System for a West Marches Game?

Savage Worlds would be perfect with its flatter power curve and ease of preparation. Plus its mass combat system is very good if you ever want to play army vs horde.

    Love DMing, hate doing loot

I've always wanted to run a game set in Midnight in large part because I wouldn't have to worry about this very issue. It's something I just don't enjoy doing. I'm thinking about running Midnight for 4E soon and will just use the inherent bonuses tab in the Character Builder. What I would love...

    So how is 4th edition?

Like Gort, I was also this guy. Using mattcolville's example, I could build that opponent using 4E's Monster Builder in about 10 minutes, more or less. I love building unique opponents for my players to encounter, and they appreciate it too. 4E makes that so much easier and faster.
