1000th Post. What's your best type of post?

Like the OP, my favourites are those involving ideas for an adventure or a campaign. It's positive and it's practical and a real antidote to the nastiness that sometimes builds up around edition wars and assorted asshattery.

They Need an XBoX Live VT

I think maybe you should save this suggestion until at least one of the e-tools is actually working properly. Just one. Pick any one.

    Dragon/Dungeon for November

There is less content than before. That's a basic fact.

    Kill the Messengers... Thanks WotC!

Considering how little content actually appears in Dungeon these days, perhaps filling the empty spaces with stuff from Encounters is a good solution for WotC that wouldn't require more content to be actually produced? Perhaps a message to whoever if the editor-in-chief of Dungeon these days is...

I need more worlds to explore

What about: - Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil in Akanul? (I would also throw in the Shackled City adventure path in Airspur.) - Ravenloft plus Robin Hood with smatterings of King Arthur on the isle of Snowdown in the Moonshae Isles?

    Dragon/Dungeon for November

No, it's not just you: it's an objective fact. We've gone from three or more adventures, a map of mystery and a few articles in the Paizo print era to two or three delves (without proper maps, just mashed up dungeon tiles) and a few articles. I do wish Dungeon had an editor-in-chief with...

Need a BBEG to strike fear into my PCs

Perhaps if you told us a little bit about your campaign so far it might be easier to make a suggestion? Otherwise our suggestions won't make a lot of sense to you and to your players. Also, at what level will this party encounter the BBEG? At 6th level as they are now or at the end of one of...

    Leveling monsters without Monster Builder

Yes, it seems there are a few people who basically subscribe for one month once a year and download all the updates to the Monster Builder and Character Builder at that time. They can then play with both programmes forever after... and also just repeat the one month subscription in a year's time.

    D&D 4E I miss 4E

Much the same as you, I miss Dungeon adventures that are more than just three encounters and some tiles. More precisely, I miss the Dungeon adventures that appeared under Paizo's excellent stewardship in the 3.5E years. Three delves a month just doesn't cut it. I also miss books that are more...

Can you provide any details of your campaign to help with recommendations?

    Pay to Play at FLGS?

Really? No worries, I'm happy to stand corrected on it. I thought it was part of the mayonnaise-rich diet you folks indulged in. Personally, I like gravy or mayonnaise on my chips/fries: both are great (although I rarely eat chips/fries these day). Poutine sounds great. I've had chips with...

    Pay to Play at FLGS?

I have no problem for paying to play. For a year-long campaign I ran at my former FLGS we all paid AUD5.00 per week (back then about USD3.00 and now USD5.00 probably on its way to USD10.00 as the US economy continues to collapse!) which also included some pizza. I've got no problem with a store...

    Leveling monsters without Monster Builder

The short version is: +1/-1 to attack, damage, AC and other defences per level up or down. Seriously, just grab a one month subscription and enjoy the monster builder forever after.

D&D 4E New 4e Forglotten Realms campaign....where can we get all the Living Forgotten Realms

The sign-in page is here: https://membership.wizards.com/login.aspx However, before you can sign in you need to join the RPGA then one of you needs to take (and pass) the online Herald-level GM test. The easiest way to join the RPGA is to grab a membership card from your FLGS and then follow...

    Some Thoughts on Campaign Design

This is largely how I do it. I put some effort into the "factions" and their motivations and goals. Once I have these set in my mind I can pretty much roll with anything the players decide to have their characters do. It also gives me ideas for the sort of sites and encounters that I need to...

Would Darksun have been a better 1st release for 4e?

Dark Sun would have been a disaster from a business point-of-view. A new ruleset, particularly one that so profoundly differs to its predecessor, needs a fairly standard setting. I agree with other posters who suggested that PoL-land should have been the first campaign setting released: a...

    A Druid Vampire

I run my games in the Forgotten Realms and have had vampire druids of Malar the Beastlord several times. Malar is CE and is the archetypal predator. Vampires seem to suit his dogma quite well.

MERGED - "About Edition Wars" threads x9

No we need a penal colony. I firmly believe that participating in an edition war should be cause for banning. It's boring. It's frustrating. There is never anything new said. The only thing it is good for is generating new content for the asshat thread over at circvsmaximvs.com.

Is a retro-clone the right game for me?

I'm also loving Swords & Wizardry. It's much closer to how I would want to run 1E again, although it is actually an OE clone. It also has an enormous advantage for house rules: the rules are available as a Word document so you can simply insert your house rules before printing off the book...

Job Titles for a Medieval Official?

There's actually an old English title Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports that dates from the 12th century to present day. Cinque is from the Spanish (?) for five. (I remember this title because it was held by a former Australian PM and, before him, the legendary Winston Churchill.)
