WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

What exactly are they supposed to be concealing... is it or is it not the fastest selling edition at this point...Regardless of why, unless WotC made a definitive statement about that. This statement by Mearls feels like he's insinuating they are lying but doesn't state what they are supposedly...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I don't know... thats why I asked. It seems they are working on at least 1 game... Exodus.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

Actually what moves have Hasbro made to garner a piece of the videogame market? My impression was that they were going after the steady revenue that a subscription model offers through DnD Beyond... which is not a videogame.

Ok I'm not missing anything then.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

This along with D&D '24, D&D 2024 and D&D 5.24. Also I'm not sure what relevance comparing it to Baldurs Gate (a videogame that won game of the year) has... I feel like maybe I'm missing something here.

WotC 5E Designer Mike Mearls Talks About The OGL Crisis

Well it's pretty clear you have already come to the conclusion that whatever pre-determined course of events, motivations and actions with no real firsthand or secondhand knowledge.l you believe happened did... so cool but I'll choose to put more stovck into what those with actual knowledge and...

That's not how feedback and negotiations of contracts work.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

Here's an interesting data point... The Grimhollow Transformed kickstarter is labeled as 5e 2024 and has funded with close to a million dollars... I know it's just one kickstarter but it seems to go in the opposite direction of the doom and gloom predictions around 2024 D&D...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I agree with this... the thing is it's great for sales for that company but it doesn't seem to really grow the player base, or diversify the hobby in a meaningful way.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

Good point... this game isn't out yet but Avatar the Last Airbender was another million dollar kickstarter that it feels like no one is playing.

D&D General Why Mike Mearls left D&D, an interview by Ben Riggs.

But Solasta isn't one of those supplements and when dealing with something created at a specific time in perpetuity... and without knowing the exact intent of those who created it... can lead to unintended consequences that aren't just non-suportive of the ecosystem... but actively harm it.

D&D General Why Mike Mearls left D&D, an interview by Ben Riggs.

Now this I agree with... though I think it was more along the lines of Hasbro execs not understanding the game they were playing.

    D&D 5E (2024) Why No Monster Creation Rules in D&D 2024?

Lol...OK who are the plenty of folks you've seen taking your position...

D&D General Why Mike Mearls left D&D, an interview by Ben Riggs.

Yes and playing any fantasy videogame "might" get someone interested in D&D but I wouldn't claim that's supporting D&D nor did I say the only way was to pay a licensing fee...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why No Monster Creation Rules in D&D 2024?

You asked a question and I gave my answer. Some assumption in this discussion is necessary....plenty of folks here is still a drop of water in an ocean compared to the actual number of D&D players. You are claiming it's a problem so it is on you to present evidence that it actually is.

D&D General Why Mike Mearls left D&D, an interview by Ben Riggs.

How does the videogame Solasta fit into that model? How did it support D&D?

If there were various versions... how could it have been finalized? Or better question... what were the terms of the finalized version?

D&D General Why Mike Mearls left D&D, an interview by Ben Riggs.

Yes or they could have set it at 500k or 10m or 250k or 15m... the point was they were looking for feedback on it... again, it was not finalized, not ready to be signed.

No they didnt... at least not according to people who were actually at the company at the time... there were different versions and it hadn't been finalized... so what were they signing exactly?
