Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

To be fair the players asked Matt for a very deadly game... so the expectations were set there, and I think the disconnect is that AoU is no more or less deadly than any other Daggerheart campaign framework. An expectation was set (correctly or incorrectly) that didn't feel like was being met...

No, I'm not. And what you quoted was in reference to a specific statement made by another poster... you should also keep the time-frame this conversation took place in since it was weeks ago... but you keep doing you.

Yes... I can only speak for myself... correct? So I feel it is premature for me to claim or accept that it is 2x faster without the experience to back up my choice... seems pretty simple to me. And?

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

Not @RenleyRenfield but the game does bias towards successful actions since crits don't have a comparable failure/fumble state. Not sure I would sayings instead of hope since a crit rewards hope and clears stress.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

So I've been avoiding talking about the two sessions I've run so far because of... 1. The general reaction some fans of daggerheart/CR are having at any criticism of the game... and 2. I really want to have more experience before stating anything definitive... That said, I think there's some...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Yeah I'm going to agree here... I think the fact that 5e '24 is backwards compatible along with DDB having all books released for '14 and '24 available there is less incentive for WotC to repackage information from previous publications to trty and sell it a second time to consumers which, IMO...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I like them in my game, they add another dimension to martial characters and they are magnitudes easier to implement and track vs. spell effects.

@Distracted DM ... What are Campaign Frameworks in Daggerheart?

Oh, ok... it wasn't clear that you just wanted to complain about something... vs. having actually been misinformed.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

No but why would I need to... Until they show or state otherwise, and because the term is being widely used and associated with Critical Role (Who still are the #1 D&D streaming live play) and Daggerheart across the internet... I'd find it more strange if WotC decided to Co-op the term for...

Huh? What are you talking about? A campaign framework has nothing to do with Bastions it's from Daggerheart.

You claimed it wasn't a binary result and it still is, you succeed or you do not. Any time you resort to who cares as part of your argument without actually addressing the point well it's time to step away so I'm done.

Not for what you are trying to achieve, thus it's still a binary system for achieving your goal.. you succeed at what you are trying to achieve regardless of rolling with fear or hope... EDIT: Not making that distinction is exactly how a GM ends up overriding what should have been success in...

Are you talking about Derick from kotlc? If so he was pretty clear about not undermining a success because it's rolled with fear... He's also pretty clear that he isnt going to run DH 100% by the book To be clear x with hope gives the players a hope currency and x with fear gives the GM a fear...

This isnt really true either... In DH a success is a success and a failure is a failure.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Running horror with Daggerheart is probably slightly harder than running the experience in D&D. Whether either is worth the time doing it is probably up to the needs of the individual.

That's not really like Daggerheart...like at all. I guess rolling two dice is something.

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

No worries I'm excited about my game tomorrow and have no plans to cancel it. We're doing a mini-campaign (unless the players want to keep going) in the Witherwild frame (not ready just yet to create my own but I have actually been eyeing Planescape and thinking of converting it if I stick with...
