I saw that, but I don't think that's an important enough time shift. They were inter-cutting between the two scenes to draw them out, that's all. Most likely, the two events occurred within 12 hours of each other.

And, as Crothian stated, they may not be able to do that. Contracts are contracts. There are rules based on the number of episodes the person is in, their status as a regular, etc.
The other island makes sense. In season 2, when they found the other hatch, with the video monitors, the film mentioned that they'd have a shift (2 days? a week?) and then go to the boat for their off-time.
