D&D 5E (2014) Why does Wizards of the Coast hate Wizards?

that’s a cool solution. It just doesn’t fit my medieval Europe like setting very well. Very Eberron though.

it makes perfect sense for some divine classes. Just not Bards and sorcerers.

D&D 5E (2014) Why does Wizards of the Coast hate Wizards?

Wet shouldn’t be a problem. The books in earlier editions were described as so expensive and using rare inks because they were water proof and very resistance to wear and tear. Otherwise the book would be as inexpensive as a typical codex of the time period, which still wasn’t cheap. Yeah you...

D&D 5E (2014) Why does Wizards of the Coast hate Wizards?

Personally I stopped screwing around with wizard spell books ages ago. It just became a jerk move.

D&D 4E Flowery power names vs pragmatically descriptive.

Yeah the welsh and Celtic can be quite difficult to read. But there are certain flavors that can be kept. That’s one reason I liked birthright setting so well.

D&D 5E (2014) Why does Wizards of the Coast hate Wizards?

I just think it’s a bad meta mechanic in alot of cases for the reason i outlined. Maybe Wolverine should trade in his regeneration for super speed and stop getting kidnapped all the time.

D&D 4E Flowery power names vs pragmatically descriptive.

Not me. I want those Middle English and ancient sounding names and words. And as this is a game that primarily draws from and celebrated European folklore and heritage it is a great chance to use the words they would use for flavor and aesthetics.

D&D 5E (2014) Why does Wizards of the Coast hate Wizards?

Swapping spells for a sorcerer as they level just seemed meta to me and made no sense. There powers come from their bloodline and shouldn’t be swapped out later. It’s like profoessor X deciding To swap out his telepathy when he levels up for heat vision. It doesn’t feel right. It’s just a meta...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Gem Dragons Are Officially Back

That’s amazing because I consider magic and psionics to be the same thing. It’s just humans don’t have enough of it and in general need verbal and material components to harness it along with the somatic components to harness their chi to align with the different magical forces to produce a spell.

Doesn’t bother me. I was just curious how many people find that important. I play kingdom building from becmi. The bookkeeping can get intense.

Chromatic dragons are just a subset in the classification of crayola dragons of which i think there are 120 total different types.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Gem Dragons Are Officially Back

I wonder how many people sit down to their fantasy game and worry about things like economics and biospheres. Not that it is a bad thing if it is your thing. Sometimes we can get too much detail imho.

    D&D 5E (2014) My biggest gripe with 5e design

Heck my wizard made many saves or die in 5E with full hp. If he would have failed his save versus dragon breath in some of these published adventures he would have died. Almost dies passing them.

    D&D 5E (2014) My biggest gripe with 5e design

We tried the option UA method once and found it to not work well. Way too powerful. Really ad&d is balanced without percentile strength. If you had percentile strength you were a badass.

    D&D 5E (2014) My biggest gripe with 5e design

I do think there should be more opportunity to die from stupidity and carelessness in 5E. Basically from not paying attention and being sloppy.

    D&D 5E (2014) My biggest gripe with 5e design

Lol. All is true for me except the pointy sticks. The fighters had swords. But the poor wizards stick wasn’t. He had a blunt staff. And when we had to fight a dragon we hope he was in his lair where he couldn’t fly and he was sleeping so we could get surprise attacks and kill it before it could...
