To make it work for me I just told my players Goliath is another name for ogre and you are playing an ogre. That worked for them. They kept their cool abilities and race features and that worked for everyone.

I can’t get into warlock as a template for psion because I think eldritch blast even reskinned ruins their role in a group and just makes them another dpr class.

It just sneaks in and starts almost unintentionally. You try to build a more realistic economic system or start in on a fantasy political system. Then it goes somewhere one wishes it didn’t go.

Really. I think very few people will be happy with what they do with psionics. Too many different opinions. I think the smart thing to do is give lots of options. Make a psion class, make a sorcerer class that is psionics for those that want that too. I think the soul knife in any edition sucks...

I never really assumed they were anything more than just evil elves. Yeah a slight connection to the unseelie court or another mythology here and there. But they did a really good job of striking fear before they made it a class that every Tom, Dick, and Harry played.

Yes. They take from greyhawk and place it in the realms. It’s not like the realms does not have enough lore as it is. And good lore too.

I kind of hate how players assume that certain things are in a setting. In addition to that it disgusts me that they weakened drow and made them a PC race. I preferred them much more powerful and as NPC’s.

No. I always thought the sorcerer could be the best Psionic class. Psionics is so modern. It just doesn’t fit. But a sorcerer with minor tweaks fits the bill.

If you really think that than toss them. You don’t need them. I guess we need a class for wizards that wear pointy hats.
